I paid MSRP for my car this week, with no add-ons or bogus fees. I ordered the car, so I wasn't really able to negotiate on price.

If you are buying a car off the lot, I suspect you can get a discount, since most of the dealers have LOTS of inventory right now. Roadshow in Memphis has '$1000 off any car in stock' on their website.

They discounted my ordered car, but it was already in their allocation in the color and equipment I wanted, so they just put my name on it and when it came in I picked it up and wrote the check........no muss , no fuss. Picked it up last Friday.

Most of the dealers have substantial inventory on the ground right now, so if you can find the car you want I'd think you should be able to negotiate a good deal. But I'll bet in a few months this inventory will dry up since the factory has cut back production by eliminating weekend work. Then it will be back to MSRP.

I've seen dealers with 100 cars on the lot. Negotiating for below MSRP should not be a problem right now.

Wow, thats alot. That seems to be even below invoice price? Usually invoice is 8-10% under MSRP.

There was $3K for paying cash and another $2K for buying an '08.

An offer too good to refuse

Are we talking $5K US dollars or Canadian dollars?

Anyone have good luck pulling a deal on the East Coast?

Mike,

We're talking funny money here. Canajun Dollars . Just to put it in perspective, an MCS with sport and comfort packs, nice floor mats, brushed alloy interior trim would be about $37.5K (pre-tax)

It's all in the percentages.

Man I wished I could've hopped down to Seattle and picked something up, but alas no warrenty, etc. Dont get me started on that

With my MINI club, we rallied to a dealership and they were willing to knock off $3,000 off a JCW clubman...from $34k to $31k

I already have my baby =)

I would like to know as well. Im located in Socal. The bf and i are looking to buy by the end of this month before the tax increase if the price is right.

i could offer from my brief experience at a mini dealership in LA this weekend, we could have got 1K off a MCS that was on the lot. thats not enough for us, esp if its a car that isnt exactly what we want.

I loving seeing people get good deals like the ones posted above. if we can negotiate soemthing like 2K off sticker then i would buy for sure.

thanks everyone and good luck! i hope to join the mini family soon.

Hey folks, in South Florida pricing is really competitve. My order 09 MCS is on the ship enroute to Brunswick, GA. the configured price was 29,200.00 and I my price is $27,275.00, plus tax, tags, etc.
What do you think?

Rule of thumb: Anything below 10% of MSRP is pretty much invoice. In other words, the dealers are not making anything on it. So if you're looking at a figure about that percentage off, then you're good(actually you're very lucky)

Thats not completely true. Dealers get "holdbacks and bonuses" from the manufactures when they sell a car. Most dealers can make money even selling a car at invoice.

How accurate are invoice prices from edmunds.com? with the options i wanted (auto, premium and sport) the invoice price was 9.7% under msrp.

im getting irked by the fact the dealer told me 6.1%.

Edmunds should be correct. There are other sources also, they all show the same pricing. Remember, that does not include destination charges. Maybe when thats added on that might be the difference?

the edmunds pricing reports do include destination charges ($650)

the only bad thing with the edmunds pricing reports, is that they are still listing the TMV (true market value), which is what others around your area are paying, as msrp still.

At least for LA, im pretty sure that is no longer true. (the TMV pricing was based off my zip code btw)
