So, just to reiterate - MINI is no longer producing R52 convertibles (what you won). Stopped about a month ago. There is very little stock left at dealers. Many dealers have none. Demand is high for MINIs of all kinds right now. The non-S R52 gets much better gas mileage than the MCS version, which may actually make it more desirable to many buyers. The next-generation cabrio (R57) is expected to be available in the US in the March/April timeframe. It will have more power and get better mileage than the R52. So you best bet is to sell the R52 this fall, which is prime convertible selling season in much of the country...

And, yes, you can order an R56 coupe right now. Wait time depends on the allocation availability of the specific dealer you choose - could be 6-11 weeks typically.
True and:
Be aware that the old mini and the new mini are totally different cars.
IMO, The new one is a kind of BMW and the old one is an english sportive car with a touch of BMW.
There are some that prefer the old ones over the new ones.
Personally I think the new one is much much better in every aspect.

Btw. All rally drivers (& formula 1) use paddles, why don't you?

I just got a JCW after having 3 BMWs ('99 323i, '02 530i, '05 M3). The JCW is not like any BMW I've had. It's a very different car. Ride, drive, handling all feel very different.

Amen, brother the first gen car is more a BMW-Rover >UGH< hybrid while the sec gen is all Bimmer, with a touch of Poogy.

(I remember driving a R53 MCSa and that car had serious delays between shifts. But that was an underpowered iron lump mill with no low-end torque)

Remember, after subtracting the taxes that you will pay on the car that you won, you will net around $15,000. Any trade up to another Mini will have considerable out of pocket costs. I went through these scenerios when I won my Mini and just decided to keep the car. I had to borrow money to pay my income taxes that year. BTW, my car also has the CVT and it performs flawlessly after 75000miles. The problems with the CVT are mostly with the 02 and 03 models. The current 6-speed manual tranny has way more issues than the CVT, if you can believe the Forums.
