Bad News - '09MCS & '09MCCS Orders

My MA informed me today that the reason why many of us are waiting endlessly for our cars to be released from the VDC is that the EPA has not officially cleared these '09 MCS/MCCS cars for the road. They remain held at the distribution center and will be put on trucks once the EPA clearance happens.

Doesn't that suck.

Why wasn't this anticipated/planned for by MINI well ahead of time?

Must not affect 09 JCW's as those seem to be heading to dealers just fine.

Where did your MA get this information? I would like to confirm it myself instead of relying on a car salesman. If true hopefully cleared up before mine reaches the Port Hueneme VDC on Oct. 6th. But then there may be a backlog of cars which will cause a domino effect. Car will arrive when it arrives. I've waited 3 months, a few extra days won't kill me

"From regional management," is the source he cited.

I'm going nuts too. This car arrived on 9/13 and was supposed to be at the dealer on 9/19. We all should have known about this sort of delay well ahead of time, and MINI should have had all documentation/testing done ages ago. This isn't a new model year or a new engine to test. This should have been routine.

The EPA is listing the MCS and MCCS on FuelEconony.gov. They weren't there until just recently, so things are progressing. They're showing the same MPG as the 08s (which had a better rating than the 07s).

Hmmm... but under the "EPA Air Pollution Score" section it reads:
Not Available

Has anyone gotten a 2009 that is not a JCW yet?

Yes. How do you feel now?

They should heal in about three weeks. I'm having to type through one of those one letter at a time wheel-dealies... I'm getting pretty good with it though.

Vehicle Status - 2009 MCS

I spoke to 866-ASK-MINI this morning, to check my vehicle status. The guy told me they aren't able to track vehicles after they leave the plant, but that the sales reps can. (According to Walenius shipping line, my VIN was offloaded in Jersey City on Sunday at 9:00am).

I called my sales rep this morning (Richmond, VA). She checked her system, which showed that the car was at the VDC with an ETA at the dealership of 9/27 (this coming Saturday). We'll see...

By the way: the automated voice at ASK-MINI says the car is still on the dock in England, waiting for a ship. The MINI USA website says that it is on a ship enroute. Go figure.

Need to have someone who ordered from Morristown Mini comment. MM is high volume and only about 10 miles from the Jersey City VDC....so you would assume they would be one of the first.

I heard the same spiel from my MA, I'm guessing it's legit and we'll be twiddling our thumbs while the bureaucrats shuffle papers.

BETTER NEWS I called ask mini and my MA was on my other line( mid conversation). ASK MINI
said It's not uncommon for the EPA to grab a bunch of cars Minis BMW's and others MB VW .... and test them in a new model year and that this has happened every September. So it dosent mean that there is anything wrong its just that we got caught up in the test. BTW my MA called while I was on the line with USA and assured me that they will disclose any damage what so ever. This is a delay I can accept.

HEY the least the EPA could do is give us a life time inspection. I think we need to charge the EPA for the loan of our cars!

So do the JCWs, so that wouldn't seem to be what's holding things up.

Word from ASK MINI

Approx. 5:30 p.m. EST, this is a paraphrase of what ASK MINI told me:

"BMW is not releasing ANY '09s until they "announce" that the 09s are being released."

Meaning, as I understand it, they send the specs to all the websites, etc and they issue a press release.

Although, we seem to see that some 09 Justacoopers are at dealerships.

Please, contact ASK MINI and your MA and ask about this. If this is true, we need to make as much noise as possible to get them to release the darn things so I don't have to rent a car for another week... and you can get your MINI!
