Factory stripes dirty

I have a 12 month old MINI and the factory stripes are staind or cannot be cleaned. Much like the residue from a tree or leaf debris. Are stripes replaceable under warranty?

They should be, but yr in Europe so things may operate differently there. In the interim, try Klasse All-In-One cleaner/acrylic wax, but be gentle. Worked great on my dirty, water-spotted and stained (black) stripes.

I will have to try that - I have a water spot on my bonnet stripe (since delivery) that I can't get rid of.

Try posting this issue in the "detailing" forum. Those guys are fanatics, and you'll probably get lots of tips on ways to get those stripes clean!

Simple Green used to work for me at removing the discoloration. Stripes get scratches too and those don't wipe away. That's why I stopped putting them on my Mini's after the first one.

My bonnet stripe has clear bra on it from the bottom of the bumper to the windshield. That should take care of it getting scratched or discolored. I'll see how the roof and boot stripes hold up.

When I brought my mini in last week for fog light replacement, I showed the service manager, who is just the best person in the car business I have ever dealt with by the way, my water staind stripes and asked him if maybe they had some cleaner that would work since I had tried clay, Prima QD, banana gloss etc and nothing worked. He offered to just replace them no charge. I told him he didnt have to do it but he insisted. When I picked the car up he also gave me a certificate to a day spa at PGA for my wife which included a free manicure and glass of champagne. He then proceeded to give me another one for her friend. How awesome is this dealership!!! So it doesn't hurt to ask the next time you go by there. I mean I wasn't even going to ask but figured what the heck.

No, but if you want one I could find you one $$$$...$ (It would be Euro spec, but pending on year it would be registered classic.) Parts too.

stripes are cheap. I am not sure if the damage caused by the outdoor element is covered under warranty. I doubt it. I love the look with some sort of stripe(s) on a MINI. Without any stripes, it looks non-MINI like, IMO. However, for people who don't like the striped look, no stripes is the way to go.

If you cant get them replaced I would suggest having them painted on. The factory stripes are vinyl decals, plus if you get the, painted on they will match the car finish....good luck.
