Thanks all. The few non S I have test driven in I have been pretty happy with. Not so much as the off the line speed, which it lacks compared to the S, but more the the handling.
So I just placed my order for a Pwhite Cooper. I hope the wait won't cause me to have " I should have gotten an "S" nightmares
I'll just remember why I'm getting a MINI, because it's a blast to drive! Non S or otherwise

Upon delivery of your justacooper, the MCS owners will make you sign a legal and binding contract stating that you cannot respond with a 4 page retort as to why a justacooper is better than an MCS. Its all customary and we expect your full cooperation.

Easy choice...seems like the "S" owners are happy and the NON "S" owners are to with the exception of not having an "S" model....

Get the S. If you don't you'll wish you had. I was in the same boat having ordered the non S. Just as it was being delivered I cancelled the order and reordered an S. Of course, I had to wait all over again. Finally, when I brought the car home the wife liked it so much that she took it from me. I get it on Tuesdays and Saturdays (joint custody). More stuff is standard on the S, the gas mileage is not that much better and it certainly has more zip. You can also modify it more...

Can't remember where I saw it, think it was Vehix, but 70% of Mini's ordered in the USA are S and 30% non-S.

I kid you not that when I was doing the deliberation between the two I actually did have a nightmare where I was in a justaClubman and I couldn't get up this hill. Of course this is silly (can't help my dreams).

Don't need to say enjoy your car because surely you will!

It's like this....finding $1000 on the sidewalk would be fantastic. Finding $900 on the sidewalk would also be fantastic. Independently, both situations would put a huge grin on anyone's face. Now let's see a show of hands of those who would prefer to find $900.

But what if there was a $500 prize for finding exactly $900? That'd be more accurate, imo.

Wait a minute, it's not that simple. The justacooper option has significant advantages, like its superior fuel efficiency and it being much lighter on the wallet.

It boils down to personal preference and priorities, and what fits you best.

I flip flopped back and forth for a while until I test drove the S. I was sold right there. But my budget allowed for an S. And if you are easy on the pedal you can get almost as good of mpg as the non-S but you have the power when you need (read want) it. So, as others have said, what are your priorities and budget, those will be the determining factors.

Look at the UK numbers and it's just the opposite.

S = yes for me! If you want good gas mileage, drive 60mph in 6th gear, go light on the gas and it should be in the 30-ies.

Im sorry but the non-S is wayyy too slow for me, then again I like to have power to maneuver and I enjoy driving. Even the S for me is lagging but parts are so cheap for the MINI it will cost me very little to add some more umgh to it.
