Just brought home my winter setup

Yokohama Ice Guard ig20. 175/65R15. This will be my first winter with winter tires so I can't say anything the way they drive yet.

it'll be a set of 4 pirelli wintersport w210's..
i'm also going for a 16 instead of the 17s that are on at the moment.
i am excited as last years 17s *** were not exactly confidence inspiring..

My 2008 MCS has 17"Web Spokes w/ Dunlop runflats.
I want to get 4 all-season tires for the winter months (I'm 50 miles north of NYC) and put them on used 16" Bridge Spoke wheels.
I'm looking for advice on whether this is a good approach. Also, if the wheels -- which I hope to find used -- do not come equipped with TPMS, can I easily add it?

Definitely! I purchased an extra TPMS kit from TireRack for 200$ (for 4 wheels). They were installed by my garagist, and he also took care of resetting the MINI computer as stated in the Owner's manual. It's been 2 weeks now, and no problems/alarms whatsoever. I believe the kit from TireRack is as good as the OEM, and it is made in Germany (according to the label on the box).

Those look like Motegi MR7 rims - I have the same ones in white! They are very durable but not lightweight. I'm running last winter's Bridgestone WS50s 195/55R16 non-runflats. Great snow tires, but they have been discontinued (replaced by the new WS60).

There's no comparison between all season tires and winter tires for snow and ice traction. If you're going through the trouble of changing tires for the winter you might as well go all the way.
