I have a friend that lives in Denver and he swears by Scotch Guard. Just spray the inside and supposedly mud and snow will not stick as much...

Thanks, but it's such a rough surface it's not just a matter of it sliding off, but more totally inbedding itself and freezing to the surface...it's a heavy shagg-like cloth or material...?

I know, but supposedly, just like when you scotch guard your carpet or sofa, material thrown up on the wheel well will not stick... I don't know, I live in Hawaii so I can't say how it would work but I think it's worth buying a can of scotch guard and trying it on one wheel well to compare.

Never heard of the Scotch Guard solution, but I like it!

I'm sure spraying any silicone lubricant on it will help shed the snow. I was intrigued when I saw what the fender wells were made of. It must be really, really cheap material to produce.

I'm sure it's some kind of recycled material...

I don't know about it costing less than traditional plastic. During the same year, VWs had plastic, while Audis had the carpet-like material. I'm pretty sure that it costs more, and is an effort to reduce tire noise heard inside the cabin.

Definitely a problem last winter with my '07 MCS. I'm going to try the Scotch Guard suggestion this winter and see if it works.

I lived in Colorado for the last six years. I used silicone spray on my snowplow blade and it definitely helped to keep the snow from sticking.

A MINI with a snowplow? That would be worth seeing.
