Need Help/Looking to purchase 2007 Cooper S

I am interested in purchasing 2007 Cooper S with 8,000 miles at an asking price of $22,900. Not sure if the deal is a good one, but it seems like it is lower that what I have seen elsewhere.

Specs from dealer:

Climate Control, Cruise Control, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Shifter, Heated Seat, Homelink System, Tilt Steering Wheel, Steering Wheel Radio Controls, Sunroof, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Keyless Entry, Security System, ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Dynamic Stability, Rear Defogger, Fog Lights, Intermittent Wipers, AM/FM, CD Player, Leather Interior Surface, Rear Spoiler

SPORT PKG, SINGLE CD IN DASH, 1ST ROW OPEN-CLOSE SLIDING AND TILTING SUNROOF, 2ND ROW POWER TILTING SUNROOF, REAR SPOILER, A-C, HOMELINK, CLEAR BRA, POWER WINDOWS, MIRRORS, AND LOCKS.

Dealer tells me it has everything except Navi. Not sure how true that is, but is sounds pretty well loaded. I have yet to see it, but photos look good. Does this seem like a fair price for year and mileage. Warranty good until July 2011.

Any input would be appreciated. Merry Christmas!!!

sounds like an excellent deal, clear bra will keep the front end in good shape, so I bet it looks amazing, get a car history report, just in case it is too good to be true

I asked the same question about the car's history. I will definitely get a carfax report on car, but not so sure how accurate those are. My coworker said his car was in a wreck and it never showed up in the carfax. The dealer tells me he purchased at an auction in FL last July, and was asking a couple of grand more for it originally. Just recently dropped price. Says he has sold almost 40 used Minis this year, but things slowed down in the fall. My gut tells me something is not right here, but I don't really trust car dealers.

Go to the NAM marketplace and take a look at those Coopers and get an idea.

Advice

Most cars aren't selling right now. Mini's have a higher potential of selling, but there are a lot less buyers right now. Only about 1 hour away, I could buy a brand new 2009 for 22,850. Why would anyone want to pay 27,000 or higher for a used vehicle? I looked at a 2007 that was 19,998 in the Raleigh area just recently. It was smoked out, and the dealer was also trying to survive by getting the vehicle to sell. In your case, I'd bet your dealer is just trying to get some movement on vehicles by reducing the price. If I were you, I'd get the VIN and check with Mini service to see if there are any service records for it. You can also take the vehicle to Mini, and for about 90.00 you can have them physically check the car.

Good idea on pre-purchase, well worth $90.

End of month/year and dealer should be eager to accept any reasonable offer.

FYI Incident reports often take a while to reach Carfax.
