I forgot to ask those who have plasti-dip; what temperatures are you guys doing this? I'm thinking of attempting this in the 20's(Farenheit).

Looks great!

I just blacked out the headlight trim and grill surrounds yesterday. I'm still not sure if I want to use the Plasti-dip on the door handles and gas cap...

I am guessing that you do it much like you do the headlights! Only a little less problems!

Check in the interior/exterior forum. There is a whole section with photos on how to take everything off. Quite easy. Just be careful with all tabs on all parts. I did my black-out today. It looks good. I will post photos soon.

How hard is it to put the headlight housing back together after you bake it and take it apart? Any sealing issues?

Do you think doing stripes with plasti dip would be a bad idea, would they be removable??

You can use silicone to help re-seal it.

Yes a very bad idea.
Along with the first question of the sealant, to the people who have done the joey mod, are there any problems with moisture inside the headlights?
I see some cars with moisture inside when they have their lights on, and it looks really bad. Anyone have a problem with that?

To the second question, I don't think it would be THAT bad. Just wouldn't look too good, and if you don't like it, it should come right off, maybe even easier to take off than from other parts.

Yeah until you hit a construction zone and catch a rock or some gravel/salt and it puts a hole in your "stripe"

or when you dig out your snow brush and brush off your stripes with the snow on the bonnet. That would suck to brush off only 1 stripe...would be kinda funny.

haha well like I said it wouldnt look the best and I guess it would be a cool temporary striping.

I was thinking, if you plastidip something, and you spray paint it another colour... would the spray paint come off along with the plastidip when you want it off? Hence you can have temporary spray paint? It works in theory right?!
Someone try it!!!

Answers to couple questions;

Joey mod: No moisture issue. Not sure why there'll be any moisture issue anyways. The headlights unit isn't air sealed. As long as you wipe it well before reinstalling, it should be fine. I cannot stress how important it is to wipe the inside to a streak free clean. I had to reopen mine to take care of streaks.

Plastidip comes in a spray can and also in a brushable form. Not sure about streaks on the brushing though.

The paint over the plastidip does come off easily with the plastidip. I did this with my joey mod. I plasti dipped everything and then high temp painted the top eye red. Look under Clubman thread to take a look. It looks great. I painted another test surface and it adheres exactly the same.

almost one-year update: wheels holding up great. lost some of the sheen, but not noticeable until really up close. its usually covered in brake dust anyways.

joey mod started to bubble, right under the xenons, noticeable when up close. i have to re-do with hi temp paint one of these days.
