NAV center console upgrade

Hi,

i've been thinking lately of upgrading the boring big speedo with the OEM nav system, is that possible? is it worth it? how much do you think the dealer ill charge for labor work?

its the only one thing i wish i ordered with my car!

Like bluetooth, I think if this is available at all, it is very expensive. I regret not getting Nav & the bluetooth too. Just the bluetooth was quoted at $1200 for a dealer install.

I would estimate 4-5K on parts alone. Using MSRP prices. this has been my experience with BMWs. If you want to retrofit it costs any where from 3000-3500 depending on the model.

I could understand why you would want to replace the vast white gauge with a simple and functional display... it is aesthetically pleasing, but if you didn't get it with the car, the cost to retrofit would be prohibitively expensive. The cost to retrofit $500 Xenons is $2,000... how much do you think it costs to retrofit a $2,000 Navigation system?

Another option: get your local tint shop to darken it for you.

That plate-size speedo makes a perfect surface to suction on a nice aftermarket Garmin.

$200 bucks, and you've got a better navi than the one that comes with the mini.

Maybe Vinyl Styles gauge overlays would help make it less boring. I agree though, that's one of the reasons I got the Nav system.
