Causes unpredictable handling.
If you Mini dealer is telling you that a lighter wheel is dangerous I'd switch dealers. Don't they know anything about unsprung weight? A lighter wheel enhances handling keeping the wheels on the ground more and rebounding quicker than stock wheels. I've got BBS wheels on my '07 S and noticed the difference in handling the day I put them on. There is a 10lbs+ difference in weight from OEMs to the BBS.

No, I mean MINI-USA told me that aftermarket wheels were dangerous. I've got it in writing from them.
They are the most heinous group of double-talkers I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
