HAPPY Motoring Thread ONLY Happy posts

I have a PS MC on order and i enjoy these threads VERY much, but it seems like everyone complains about all the bad/wrong things. So, how about a happy thread? Post your fun 2007+ pictures in fun places, fun things you have done with your Mini, etc.

POSITIVE posts, please.

Here's mine:

Although i do not have my 09 PS MC yet, i am having fun getting some extras for it and planning little road trips, like; Skyline drive and blue ridge parkway, peaks of otter, Biltmore estate, etc.

Drove from Central Texas to Lake Tahoe. On the Utah leg we drove 148 miles before we saw another car.
Pure bliss.

Drove to Shreveport La (3 1/2 hour trip each way). Buddy had a Saturn Redline Supercharged. We had very light traffic, so we shaved a little time off the drive. Not racey, just rolling. He had to refill his tank when we got there. I made the whole trip on one tank.
Same speed, half the fuel.

That sounds like GREAT fun. Who else wants to post up something fun about having a Mini Cooper?

Any fun surprises about getting one? Anything neat that you discovered along the way?

One other thing for me is the hide away glove box on the newer models. I have yet to try it myself, BUT i look forward to that little surprise.

When I drove to work today here in Atlanta, none of my unfocused (cellphone, texting or just plain confused) but lovely, fellow drivers almost ran into me. Also, I feel quite regular today. Oh Happy Day!!!

Been on many memorable snowboarding trips, Camping trips and mountain biking trips. I'm going to Vermont to ride Kindom trails this coming 4th of July - 5 hrs away. I look fwd to the drive up and back. I have 2009 MCS - I love the car. There is more room than you think in there if you pack right. Oh and i bring the two dogs with me - Boston terriers. so two people and two dogs - we have a blast!

Happy motoring news: the looks of amazment from children when they see a mini (car to them) with checkered mirrors and roof and the shouts of "cool car!" & even a or two from them! Also the sometimes "disapproving" looks from 'older' generations is amusing as well!

Also, the joy of spirited motoring over hill and dale only to discover you're still getting 38-40mpg! Did I mention I love 'Justacooper' R56?!

From the Show and Shine at Mini Meet East Meets West -- still going on in Winona, MN this week ... the kids had the opportunity to give this classic Mini a temporary "custom" paint job. They all had a blast, and it was great fun to watch!

That's really a neat idea! What type of paint did they use?

I've been tooling around and finally really enjoying the manual abilities of the Agitronic auto tranny. My next Mini might be a JCW

Last weekend I put 200 miles on the Meeny driving around New Jersey- Westfield, Morristown, over the GWB to NYC. All trouble free and delightful with the sunroof open or the ice cold air blasting. It's been hot and muggy but better than my trip to Louisiana, where I wish I'd had my Mini to hit some of the twisty roads along the bayous and Atchafalaya basin.

It makes me happy to see a nice Mini drive by me or cruise next to me, especially when the owners get a little creative with their cars.

The JCW living across the neighborhood drives by me everyday and makes me drool.

My next Mini at least needs to be an S.

I finally ran into another oxygen blue near where I live! That was cool to see.

Randomly going out and adventuring is also a blast. I also love how people will stop me and compliment my car. When I get deliveries from say, UPS or a pizza delivery person... they always have to go do a look around of my car. It's a great feeling.

WOW, now that's BLACKED OUT.
All you need now is some black racing stripes.....

Are those 15" wheels? and how come you did not get black there too?

Yeah, they're just 15's. I haven't had the money to get new wheels yet, but I'm probably going to get something in gun metal or hyperblack so there's at least a little contrast. I still need to do the door handles too.

The only time I really like carbon fiber is on a hood... which no one makes yet!! But for now I think I'm going to vinyl the handles.

I poseted this awhile back but I thought it fit this thread perfectly!

Spreading the "joy of motoring" I had a classic moment in Waldo the other day. We were stopped at a red light with the windows down, enjoying the day. All of a sudden a little voice says "Excuse me sir". I turn and see a cute little boy, probably 7 or 8 sitting in a big pickup truck in the turn lane next to me. I said "Hi" and with wide-eyed wonderment he asks "How fast does that Coop go"? I said, "oh, pretty fast, probably around 120mph. It's a fun car". His eyes widened and he got a big smile on his face. Before the light changed, he said "Thank you" and we motored on...but I'm certain that the sight of Waldo will live in that boy's heart forever!

So Waldo is spreading the "joy of motoring" everywhere he goes!

Wow, polite kids still exist?

I thought he was going to ask, "How many clowns fit in there?"

I can't think of one particular trip that has stood out, but I've had lots of nice rides out Carmel Valley Road past the Village, or over Los Laureles Grade, or down to Big Sur.

Also, just walking down the stairs to the garage and seeing the MINI can put a smile on my face. Then there is the fun of tinkering with it. I think I've done more aftermarket you-ification to this car since I camperized a 1966 Doge Van (when it was new).

I live in PA and looked all over the midwest/east coast for the perfect Mini before I finally bought it from Massachusetts this past March. There were a lot of plans to get sorted before I went up and got it but my wife, son and I all flew up there on a Saturday to pick it up. I think the best drive I've taken to date was the 6+ hour ride back from MA to PA. We spent the ride trying every **** and button, figuring out all the little features I'd only ever read about and smiling the whole way!

I still smile every time I get in.

My boyfriend and I got bored yesterday afternoon and went motoring with both Minis. Found a very twisty road about 20 mins from our house. We went on a nice hour or so long drive. Sooo nice, especially since there wasn't like any other cars on the road. It was the first time taking our new 07 MCS out. Nothing like that turbo engine!!
