mr. chief, i think your time away from the islands of your high school alma mater has made you forget that the grammaticall proper vernacular is:

"eh, brah, so wat? he wen ste go da kine yo da kine or wat?"

to go completely off the road of the initial subject of this thread...

saddle road was the spooooookiest road i have ever been on at night. we last were on the BI in 2005? 2006? so i'm not sure if improvements have been made to the surfaces. we ended up staying longer at the volcanoes and hilo than we expected and took the "shortcut" back to kona much later than we planned. my sweetie had lived in hilo for a summer some years before so he prepared me for how the ride would be--both the (lack of) quality of some parts of the road, and how there's always "someone" watching you.

i thought i was fairly well prepared for the experience. however, we were driving at night and i'd never experienced fog before. totally freaked me out! the fog that night was so sudden and thick that we couldn't see three feet beyond the nose of the de ville we rented (yes, i know you're contractually obligated NOT to take your rental car on that road but my friend was our rental agent and he knew we were going to do it anyway, even as we initialed the part in the contract where we affirmed we wouldn't). besides the lack of visibility, you could FEEL the mana of the spirits around you. there was a "dog" sitting, sphinxlike, on one side of the road, just watching us inscrutably as we crawled down the road past him. then there was the pueo that followed us for a bit. i kept praying to the hawaiian gods and to god with a capital g god for protection and safe passage. i refused to look out any window besides the front one for fear of seeing madam pele. shoot, i wouldn't even look in the back seat, bcs you know how there's stories of how pele would just hitch a ride....

nevermind the fact that there have been accidents where buttwipe nutcases go 80+ miles than they should on that road and end up slamming to some unsuspecting fool in the dark. every single person i know who's from the BI or lived there for long enough had close calls on that road where they're lucky to be alive.

i'm not all that sure i would have been happier doing that road in my MINI. with my luck, i would have gotten a BI lava rock stuck somewhere in my car's innards and been cursed for bringing it home to oahu. but would i chance that road with my domina, given the chance somtime in the future? heck yah! just arm me with a crucifix, and hawaiian salt and shootz! we go!

1st I hate all of you now! You guys are dicks. Nah I'm jist kidding I think it is hilarious.
2nd The first time I went to the Big Island was for training that was up off of Saddle Rd. Place is called PTA( something training are). This was 07 and there was parts of it that were in the process of being repaved and we were in a tour bus so we were going about 10mph slower then a snail and it was still a scary *** ride. The ride down was even worse. I have never been road sick, motion sick, or sea sick, but if that bus ride had lasted another 10min I would have been blowing chunks everywhere.
3rd When I went out there in June my Dad and I wen up to PTA to visit one of my friends that was there helping build something, the road had been almost completed and it was wide up 2 to 3 lanes wide with a speed limit of 55 and it was a great road to drive on. Minus driving in the rain cloud fog and being dark as hell.
4th My car will make it there. For you guys giving me such a hard time I am going to the website and tracking my car to find out where it is.

If something like that happens to your car on the boat, Mini Mee sabotaged it.

Well after 30 days of hell the Mini arrived. I went and picked it up over in Orlando. My only problem is that the chrome piece that is at the end if the brake handle was broken off and thrown in the backseat. The gave me $70 to fix it. Do you any of you know where I can get a new piece or do I need to replace the whole handle.

There are a number of places to get the brake handle. It is three pieces that come together. The tip is plastic with a "chrome" finish.

If you got the chromline interior, the part number is: 34406774436
The standard part number is: 34406774440

The part number came from RealOEM. You can get parts from a number of vendors such as AutoXCooper, Classic Auto Campus (see vendor list), and Pelican Parts.

There are also some after-market ebrake handles that aren't quite as tacky as the plastic OEM version. Craven Speed has an aluminum one. I know where you can get one made of exotic hardwoods (PM me).
