Does this connect to something?

I was messing around under my bonnet today and I noticed what looks like a loose tube that should be connected to something. The car runs fine but if you look at the picture, it's the shiny black tube in the center that curves up. It's on the right side of the engine, to the right is the fuse box and to the left is the air-cleaner intake tube. It's not connected to anything, can it be a vent of some sort? I can't trace the other end, it just disappears down towards the transmission. Can you guys with an automatic transmission check and see if you have this same tube just sitting there? Thanks!
