R56 am I the only one that got ripped off with 6 year maintenance plan?

We bought the extended Warranty, 84 months 100,000 miles. The warranty covers everything except normal maintenance items. Reading the fine print the clutch is not covered but the flywheel is covered. Squeaks, rattles and wind noise are not covered. Paid $2361.00
We also bought the extended maintenance agreement. 72 months or 100,000 miles and paid $1395.
I don't have buyers remorse. I drive a lot of stop and go and very fast and have a tendency to drive my vehicles pretty hard. I don't abuse them and perform all mandated and preventative maintenance, but I do drive it hard. We plan to keep the cars as long as we can. My wife is not so hard on hers but it's piece of mind for us. The Mini dealer is close and I use them for all maintenance. I gave up doing the maintenance things once I could afford to pay others. (And got over 50)
So I'm happy. If I would have suffered from buyers remorse I would have canceled the contracts.

I got a copy of the maintenance agreement today. It does state that "The following items ONLY due to normal wear and tear are also covered: Brake linings (pads) and rotors, external drive belts, clutch, wiper blades, any adjustment required due to normal operation conditions (except those excluded below)."
So you can't just ride the clutch and expect a new one, but if your clutch happens to wear out at 75k miles you should be covered.
I will post scans tomorrow.

Suggestion: I bought the "lifetime alignment" at Firestone/Bridgestone when I replaced the runflats with Bridgestone Potenzas ... price is $140 (cost of two alignments); well worth it to me, as I've already used it twice in less than a year (I don't track my car, but plenty of potholes in Chicago, lotsa road-trips, and a new rear swaybar install.)
Just make sure to ask around and find a place with a tech that's done MINIs before.

I'm wondering about the dealerships' reaction to a modded or partially modded car. I've been thinking about upgrading the brakes on my R56. Some of the dealerships I've talked to said they'd honor the extended brake service if I installed the JCW brakes. (By the dealer, of course) Obviously they wouldn't honor it if I installed the Wildwood or some other. Others have said the warranty is only to the state of the car at purchase.
Anybody have any experience?

The dealers I've talked to say that they'll only honor the maintenance warranty if a Mini dealer does the install. Which also makes sense. I've been reading a couple of threads about the brakes....seems with he economy and all, some of the dealers are making deals and matching the discount price at Morristown Mini for the JCW brakes.

I hope the mini dealers are not being short sighted.
I have had 1 new honda. Due to hassles and misrepresents, it has been one.
I bought the extended maintanence, not the extended warrenty, at the advice of the financial guy at Flow mini. Winston salem NC, now a new one in Raleigh, NC. Where I live.
I am not 100 percent brand loyal at all. Should this extended maintanence fail to deliver, or should I be bumped over or some such thing, I'll just make the honda CRZ my next replacement car. I hope to stay with MINI, and go with a 2 door coupe I have seen photos of.
I can tell you I am very satisfied so far 45k miles, and I have not had to do anything on this car. Flow redid the front brakes recently. Drives like new still.
This is not the case with a honda 12k mile warranty. You DO get what you pay for. My extended maintainence agreement was $1400 something.
If they keep me going perfect than I actually think it is worth it.
MINI so far for me, has stood by a solid product. And honestly I had no problems like I have read here. But I can tell you, 40k miles MINI still stood behind it, and fixed the worn breaks. Honda, they would not fix a bad battery 6 months into it.
I never forgot it.
Nor, the new car buying hassles from them.
Anyway, you earn my business on a daily basis.
And I give what I know on a generational basis at this point.
Right now, today, I declare
honda suck
mini good
I hope mini will keep earning my business.
Because it is for sure not a year or two if it goes bad, it is
a generation or two.

Depending on what you paid for it, the Maint. plan will even out over the life of the extension. I don;t think i will gain on the cost nor do I think Cincinnati MINI will profit either. I beleive the cost will even itself out.
I paid $1600 for the extension and considering the miles i drive I will burn up the maint warranty around 5 years into ownership. I look at as prepaying the maint. work. I honestly beleive that I will recoup that in just oil changes and brake jobs. Yes, I know brakes and oil chnages can be DYI but i have neither the space, tools, knowlege or inclination to do either.
In same vein as optioning out your car, this is just a personal prefernce and there is no right or wrong answer.

Part of the spiel the dealerships give when selling these is the price of things you can get (brakes, tires, oil changes, etc). They say an oil change/inspection is $110, but I can get the same thing elsewhere for about $40 (same oil). they say the RF tires are $350/ea but I can buy them for about $200 elsewhere, non-RF tires for $110. Same with the brake jobs. So it's a bit of a shell game imo. They definitely make money and they make it seem like you could break even.

Funny, I never saw that brochure. Had I seen a $4000 cost of ownership
being declared by the dealer brochure, I would have walked out and bought a yaris. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA
Anyway, I'm a bit pecular anyway.
I'm in the proces of buying about a dozen CRXs.
I started a long commute this past summer.
I have determined that the CRX is the best commuter car
on the planet over the past 25 years of my experience and
the input of others.
Although if MINI stands behind what I bought I would still buy
the 2 door coupe thing I've read about. 2 seat coupe maybe
better descriptor.

I paid $2K or a little more and it's paid for itself 3 times. It depends on the plan and what it covers. I purchased my plan through my credit union and I lucked out because it turned out to be a good. It covers some items a lot of plans don't. I would not cancel your plan. I love my MINI and at this point believe I will never sell it, but I would not call it the best engineered or most dependable car I've owned.
