Bumper install tips

Long story (sorta) short...someone backed into me and I had to buy a new bumper. However, I accidentally bought the wrong one! I needed the standard Cooper S/JCW bumper and purchased the Aero kit.

Anyway, I got it installed but the fender flares don't meet the bottom slots onto the bumper...any tips for getting these little bastards to fit? It isn't really noticeable, but it's still annoying to me.

It was getting dark and I only had my phone so the pic sucks, but here's the idea...

On the first Gen you have to remove the black fender trim, and repsitiion the clips behind it. The slots which the clips attach to inside the fender trim are elongated slots so these clips can be repositioned to a certain extent, move them towards the front of the slot to move the arched trim to the rear. And usually the top piece of the Aero kit where the phillips head screw goes into is painted black like the trim pieces and therefore this little gap is not as noticable....

I imagine 2nd gen should be about the same set up....
