Short shifter and snow/dirt?

Ok so i want to get a alt ssk for my mini s. the problem is that you have to take off the dust cover. my issue is when i go back to Alaska there is a bunch of snow mud dirt roads and road salt. what can i do to instal the ssk and still have that area sealed off from the elements.

There is a way to modify the heat shield by making a cut out for the ss element, and adding a piece of rubber to make a trough and expoxying it so that it's weather proof--do a search of SS kits, and it'll turn up...

Here you go https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-shifters.html

I just ordered an Alta SS this past weekend. I plan to mod the cover just in case.

Scott.
