New Mini Part II
This is my second new Mini within 60 days. I've wanted a Mini for a extremely long time. I brought home my first 09' MCS Pepper White w/ Black Rims Aug 21. I had a cheesy grin for weeks. 30 days later my little car was dead.
It's taken me a little bit to warm up to Schroeder's replacement partly because I'd bonded with my first Mini and because this one was a little blah looking Sparkling Silver with Sliver Rims. Fortunately a fellow NAM member gave me a smoking deal on some R90 Black Cross Spoke Rims. Today the dealer install the rims and my chrome driving lights. It needs black sport stripes but I think It's a good start.

Congrats on the 2nd new MINI. How did you end up with the SS? I love my SS, and agree that the black rims and black sport stripes make the car look nicer. With tinted windows and a black roof, mine really looks coordinated. Not sure how yours will end up since you have a white roof, but I'm sure you'll mod it and love it! Look us up at the Sparkling Silver Owners' Club if you'd like.

A stupid person in an SUV. Just clicked on the user name and selected "Find all posts by YAMA CAT"
IMO, silver MINIs look good with a large black racing stripe.

I have trying to reply to this thread for about an hour now. (I luv Windows)
I picked the sparkling sliver plucking a daisy. Really it was the one on the lot that fit my criteria Turbo, 6-spd and Heated Seats. I know I'm easy. All Minis are handsome.
I would love to join the SS club.
I like the stripes. I want to do Bonnet/Roof/Boot. I will let them stop at the sunroof. I'm thinking about these

I'm tickle to death with the rims. Thanks for selling them to me. I'm going to try to stick with the cosmetic mods for now.
BTW: I bragged to my husband about your Pimped JCW. Maybe someday.
That makes me feel better. I was beginning to think it was operator head space.
I your stripes inspire me.
Do you think I should the pinstripe in a different color? Keep the larger stripes glossy black. Make the pin stripe light silver, or ??????

If you want to get fancy, consider something like burgundy. There was a great looking classic car -- I think it was a Duesenberg -- at the Pebble Beach Concourse d' Elegance awhile back. It was burgundy and orange, and looked stunning. The combination sounds horrible, but worked really well. Burgundy stripes with orange pinstripes could be quite good.
Dark forest green, or any earthtones would go well with sparkling silver.
My original plan was to go with dark silver stripes. Every edge would have a thin black pinstripe. To have it done in paint was going to be around $1,500. I got a reasonable quote for vinyl, then the vendor raised the price when I went to order. In frustration, I just went for black as a temporary measure. After seeing it on my Pure Silver, I decided to stay with it. The dark siver would have been a different look, but not a better one, IMO.

I disagree. I sure hope the owner who has/had this doesn't read these forums, but at MINI Takes The States in LA in 2008, I saw a SS with a wood-tone Union Jack on the roof. IMO it looked HORRIBLE!! The light brown of the wood set against the SS just didn't seem to work for me. There were others around me who also said they didn't think it looked good either, so I know it wasn't just me. But I guess as long as the owner liked it... (although I think it might've been a company/vendor car).

Was this Union Jack vinyl patterned to look like wood? When my MCS was in for the chain tensioner fix, they gave me a Clubman that had fake woody side panels. That was the ugliest job of fake wood I'd ever seen. The woman who did the paperwork apologized for it. For reason, it was the last MINI available that day.

It was. And while looking through some old posts today, I saw that the owner of said woodgrained Union Jack is indeed a member of NAM (although they haven't posted in about a year). Hopefully if they do come back and read this, they will realize that all that matters is if they like it (but I don't).

I like the idea of the accent pinstripe to be orange or a deep red/burgundy. I will probably stick to just glossy black. Keep it simple or being safe.
I usually keep him in the garage. I just parked him out of sight from the truck and the jeep. I didn't want them to get jealous of his new shoes.
I haven't come up with a name yet. He kind of has the same markings as Saki the Varmese. Except his ears aren't as big. Saki or Schroeder II ??? It will come to me, eventually, maybe.
