New Mini Owner!! : )

Hey everybody, I just wanted to say HI!! I just picked up an 07 Chili Red Mini Cooper-S. This thing is such a blast to drive. I have been a Subaru guy for the last 7 years. Jumped to the Mini world because I'm trying to save money to buy the g/f a ring. So I have a fun car and an amazing g/f who is also looking at getting a Mini also. So I hope to meet a lot of you and hope to learn a lot about this little bugger. Here's some pics of the Mini and the STi that I sold.

-Ed

Congratulations on the MINI, you're going to love it. A ring for the lady makes a good excuse.

Loving the STi. I was actually looking at one of those and trading my mini for it...but luckily I got my wits about me and didnt. lol.

One thing youll love is how it hugs the corners with no problem. Its not the fastest thing in a straight line, but you will always have a blast regardless

Thanks everybody!! Yes, the STi was nice!! But I told the g/f that when I sell it that she knows that the proposal is coming next!! Haha!! Yes, the Mini is such a different car. I'm not used to driving a front wheel drive car. But so far so good. It does handle very well I may add. I'm still a bit scared to really romp on it in the corners like I did the STi. I don't have the AWD anymore!! Haha!! But I am highly impressed with these little cars!! It has half the horsepower as the STi but it's almost twice as fun to drive. I never thought I'd stray away from Subarus but I am happy that I found something as fun to drive if not more fun!!

Welcome. Watch out the MINI will consume you, you will love it to death and want to make it better, so you might not be able to get the gf a ring . But welcome again and enjoy the MINI.

Thanks guys!! The modding will have to come later. I can't believe how expensive the parts are. Was looking at a intake and exhaust and together they will be almost $1500! Wow!! I thought Subaru parts were expensive!! Haha!! I think I'm going to paint the chrome grille and headlight surrounds black. Not a huge fan of the chrome look. Also want to black out the headlights. Anybody know of a good write-up on how to do that?

Congrats on your purchase! If you mod, if likely would have been cheaper to keep the STI!

There are a few options for blacking out; aesthetic creations has a molded plastic cover for most of the trim, but they're pretty slow. Lyle's Vinyl Styles is the best, but most expensive. Finally, you can plasti dip everything which is the cheapest.

I personally got the JCW grill and surround to black that out and did aesthetic creations for the rest of the car.

Thanks again for the hello's everybody. I feel like I've come to a tight knit community just like the Subaru community only less douchy. Hahaha!! I've been looking around trying to find some answers to a few questions. I'm going to keep looking because I don't want to be a complete newb, but if anybody has a quick answer to these two questions, I'd be REALLY happy!!

1. Are the xenon headlights a direct replacement to the "crappy" headlights

2. Is it normal for the low air pressure light to come on in the cold. I'm getting tired of resetting it every day. Also, should that be covered under the 40K warranty??

Thanks in advance!! You all rock!
