R56 Brakes

Brakes
Picked up my cherished R56 cooper S just over 4 weeks ago now...when it first arrived I checked all of the service indicators on the OBC...service was showing 9000 mls, rear brakes 28k, front brakes 22k. Ok so fair enough I have driven her quite hard in those 4 weeks, but probably only put on around 600 miles. Service now showing 6000mls, rear brakes 26k, front 6K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas? Im so confused and wouldnt have imagined that they could wear so quickly. Had they been 6k when I took delivery of the car I would've made a point - is it acceptable for cherished cars to come with such a short life left in the brakes? what comeback would I have if any?

Assuming you bought it new, it would still be under the three year maintenance program, so brake replacements are free, unless you raced it. You must have driven very hard to take the pads down in 600 miles. You didn't track it, did you?
If you are beyond the maintenance program, you'd probably be a candidate for third party brake pads. I'm happy with my Carbotech 1521 Bobcats. They are supposed to last a lot longer than OEM pads, and be easier on rotors, but I'm easy on brakes. I like them for the better modulation and almost no brake dust.
