I have a BUILT-UP 87 Suzuki Samurai, and my 05 Cooper S, Problem is I love driving them both. The Sami gets a whopping 9mpg out of its 1.3L 4 cyl, but it runs E85 so its decently cheap, The MINI gets 24mpg but will lead to more tickets than I need if I drive it all the time. So I need to decide every morning what I am driving to work.

THE MINI=
More leg room (YES)
Same amount of passangers (YES)
TERRIFYING if you slam on the brakes(NO)
A heater that works (YES)
Air conditioning (YES fo noow I hav an A/C delete in the shop)
The ability to drive over LARGE rocks (NO)
The ability to travel at highway speeds (YES)
Seats more comfortable than HARD UN-padded PLASTIC (YES)
But the Sami is so fun to drive, everyone stares, the possibility of falling out exists(no doors), you never know if you are going to live to your destionation, who knows when the thing will break(used a pice of parachute cord as a throttle cable to get home on more than one occasion), and I pretty much built the thing myself there isnt many bolts I havent had a wrench on.

You remind me of a friend who totaled his cherokee (drove it off a bridge in the winter), salvaged it, built an exo skeleton for it out of 2.5" steel tube (think roll cage on the exterior), etc. the thing caught fire once or twice, one time he rebuilt the entire wiring harness as a result.

dont recall what i was searching for when i found this thread but..
I love my 99 silverado, i got it when i was 16 and hope i never sell it!! i only drive it a couple times a month now. the mini is faster in the turns but my truck will walk off on the mini in a straight line. i love the mini as well but i would feel naked with out having my truck in the garage.

I admit that I'm an aggresive... Not aggressive in the sense of speed but in the way i accelerate and change lanes... never been in an accident but this little car has saved my but from other bad motorists. There acceleration and handling is amazing and get u out of a sticky situation fast and safely. i probably owe it my life to my MINI...

When I turned 16, my dad gave me his 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara for my birthday. FUN thing to scoot around in and learn how to drive a manual. It was a great first car for me. Now 18 and attending a university about 30 miles from my house, my dad bought me a 2009 MINI Cooper S for the better gas mileage, better safety rating, and he knew it's been one of my dream cars ever since 2003. My friends call me "gay" for driving a MINI, but I don't care; I'm on cloud 9 whenever I drive it and sometimes I'll even go stare at it in the garage. I love my MINI and will ALWAYS have one in the garage until the day I die. Long live MINI; long live Pepper White! :D Happy and safe motoring to you all.

I was driving a GMC 2500HD prior to getting the MINI. For what I was spending monthly on gas I have a new gar and the fuel to run it. Still have the truck but now it is going be used for it's intended purpose- as a tool. My truck has plenty of power and sucks gas like crazy so I got used to driving it gently. Now that I am in a justa and in the break in period I feel like it is a Lambo compared to how I was driving the truck!

Amen! We have two and I'm hoping that I can convince my mom to get the Countryman so that we'll have a third. Our poor Suburban and Civic feel like the ugly step-children, which they are.

I keep telling my parents, to get rid of the minivan that has a bazillion miles on it and the POS Ranger my dad drives, and get a Clubman. They never really bought into the idea untill, I sent them up to Winter Park for MITM this year, and they saw the Countryman. Who knows stranger things have happened.

Funny Story... A few weeks ago my friend who has a lifted Chevy Tahoe was in front of me at a stop light. We were turning and the light turned green. She took off at a fast pace trying to get away from me. Bottom line, I flew by her like she was standing still. She later texted me and said that she had no idea my MINI was that fast.
This little car never ceases to amaze me and everytime I get in and take a drive, Im a little angry that I didn't buy one years ago. Motor on and be safe.

The people at Lowes are used to me asking if I can take something out to my car first to see if it fits. Funny thing is, I have never had to bring something back in. Well, I rip off the tag and bring that back in so I can pay but you all know what I meant.
I am scared to haul too much mulch in the spring. Dont want to overload Smurfette and have her scraping.
