Honda 4 cylinder engines are very reliable, and they make arguably the smoothest manual transmissions.

Having said that I don't think the K20 would be a good swap for the MINI. They just don't have enough low end torque. You would have to rev the crap out of the engine (which it can easily handle), but it would not be good for city driving.

In the future I would like to see a 140hp-150hp engine in the base MINI, while getting the same or slightly better fuel economy and atleast 200+ hp in the S.

One can only dream........

Ya that came out wrong. What I meant to say was that I have driven several K20 powered Hondas. I have also driven a couple of s2ks.
