Mood lighting; Randomly select

Would love to have the mood lighting color to be selected randomly upon starting the ignition....anyone have heard about such a mod?

haven't heard of that, but did you know that you can have the lights continuously change colors so it goes through all of them when you're driving? If you hold the toggle switch toward the front of the car for like 10 seconds, you'll see it blink and they'll start to rapidly change through the available colors.

...on 2010 or 2011+

definately not on 07-9

and id say you are the first to want it to randomly pick a color. Just get in and flick it wildly and see what you get

really? huh I thought it would have been for all the models that came with the ambient lighting. But yea, I have a 2011, and I do remember my motoring advisor telling me that they came with more colors on the '11's oh well. sorry then

You can adjust on the earlier R56s. It is the left button on the tach. You either press and hold it or just tap it till you get the brightness you want.

That's right - I was forgetting about the mood lighting adjusting with the instrument lights. It was only marginally useful - I always adjusted for the instruments and put up with whatever mood lighting I got - which wasn't much unless I stuck with orange. The new mood lighting, as well as being separately adjustable, goes a lot brighter than the old. So the pretty colors are usable.

how do you, then, bring it to normal mood light settings when it is changing randomly all the time? My MA set it that way, but didn't tell me how to bring it back to normal.

And how do you change your mood light brightness settings on your 2011 mini coopers?

for how long I need to toggle forward for? just once is enough, or i need to toggle forward(toward windshield) for certain period of time to switch from random mood light changing to solid mood light?

i tried and it doesn't seem to work.

I'll check again. I could be wrong with my directions but I'm pretty sure that's what my 2011 does.

So I just checked. In my 2011 when you have it constantly changing you toggle the switch forward towards the windshield once to get it off then you can just toggle it again to find the color you want. To dim or brighten it you toggle it towards you. It'll blink 3 times when you hit the lowest setting and then you keep toggling and it'll get brighter and blink 3 times when it gets to the brightest setting. Hope this works for you!

Didn't know that you could set the brightness. Thanks minimike!
