Sport Mode Question
Question
Sport mode
Tightens steering, remaps throttle response AND
per Manual "The engine sounds more sporty in coasting mode"
and I've noticed that in sporting mode it sorta pops and spits when letting off throttle. Sorta cool, sounds like a Triumph motorcycle with pipes. Anyone know what Sporting mode changes to get that sound and could it be harmful in any way ??????

Funny you should mention how the "pop and burble" sounds like a piped bike. People mention how cool it sounds (I have an '08 MCS without the pop and burble, and have not heard one in real life with it, so cannot comment on the cool factor), but remember trying to tune that out of my bikes since it usually meant you were running rich or had an exhaust leak, lol.
Not sure what changes were made to re-introduce the pop and burble, but doubt it would be harmful...

The "pop and burble" is the one thing I want my 2009 MCS to have! Mini deleted it from the ECU for 2007-2010 because too many people complained that their car was backfiring. I spoke with Mini HQ a few months ago and asked if they'd reflash my ECU....of course they said no. Now they're using the "pop and burble" as a selling point on the 2011's. Go figure.
