A few questions on my 2011

Have had the 2011 for a few weeks, enjoying the car so far, but I have a few questions as the old Mini was a 2006 MCS and am wondering if the 2011 can be programmed by the dealer, like the R53 was.

1) Daytime Running Lights - I had these turned on by my dealer on my 2006 R53, my 2011 R56 has automatic headlights, can I have the DRL turned on with this option?

2) Sunroof does not open with Key FOB. My 2006 would open the windows and the roof with the Key FOB "Comfort Open" function, my 2011 only opens the windows, can the dealer change this to have the roof open?

3) Roof button on console - The roof in my 2006 would open with one touch, on my 2011 I need to hold down the overhead button until the roof is open..can this be changed to work like my R53?

4) Electronic (PDF) verson of Owners Manual - I found this for my 2006 from a link that somebody posted on NAM, anyone know of where I can find this for my 2011. This e-copy was very helpful when my wife would call me from the road saying "some light just came on" and I could quickly diagnose whether she had to pull over or keep driving.

Thanks for any info

I believe the answer to 1. and 2. is you can alter these things yourself via your dash display. I got a "quick guide" with my '11 that detailed the procedure, from the top of my head I think you insert key and click start button once quickly but do not start the car. You can then navigate to the settings options via the left stalk onboard computer control.
I had an '08 and '09 with sunroofs and they did not have onetouch opening, my '06 didn't have a roof. If there is an option to change this, it would likely be in the same settings menu mentioned above.
You can sign into Owners Lounge on the MINIUSA.com website and pull up your owner's manual electronically. I also got a thumbdrive with my 2011 that details the most common functions of the car.

Hi Jag,

1. DRL are controlled via the turn signal stalk button. It is very detailed in your owners manual on how to navigate.

2. I can open windows and sunroof by holding the unlock button for about 5 seconds. I would imagine you can control this with the same navigation as above.

3. AFAIK, you would need to mod the car to get one touch sunroof.

4. Not sure about this.

Hopefully this was slightly helpful!

Cheers!

Ryan

As for 1 & 2, they have been answered, about 4 I don't know, but for 3 I've found there is a "resistance point". If you go past it the first time it'll tilt, if you do it a second time it should open completley. I wasn't able to find this until bit later that the switch became softer. Good luck

Cheers

Thank You!

Thanks to everybody for their assistance, got the DRL working and convenient access as well. I also learned that the features are enabled per FOB.

So I can have my wife's FOB set to unlock driver door on first click, while mine is set to unlock both doors on the first click. (since she is usually with me when I am driving her Mini). The radio also seems to "remember" the last station listened to depending on the FOB used. Great feature (not sure if it is new for 2011 or is on all R56 models), but I like it!

Thanks!, forgot about the Owner's Lounge, looks like PDF versions of all 2011 owners manuals are there. This is VERY helpful for me.

even better, the FOBs not only remember stations, but inputs as well. Ie I use the iPod when I'm driving, and my wife uses radio at a certain station. Each preference is launched when one or the other FOB is used. I THINK climate controls are also memorized but I haven't tested it to be sure.

Well if it remembers the volume level too, then that would REALLY keep me out of trouble...since I have a bad habit of turning off the car with the music blasting.

Sorry to hijack this threat, but i have a question on my MCS 2011, does you unlock/lock bottom work either way to unlock and lock. lets say my car is unlock, i hit up on the bottom and instead of leaving the car unlock, it locks the car, just want to know if is only my mini or all the 2011 mini are doing the same. Thanks

Sunroof - first touch tilts, second touch opens - but if you hold the first touch for a second or so, it keeps opening. Works (opening or closing) for a minute or so after you turn off the engine, provided you don't open a door. All as standard.

Lock/unlock button - just toggles on or off each time you push it, regardless of whether you push it up or down.

Same on MY2011 as earlier R56, except roof seems not to need to be held quite so long.

Right, and the same goes for the map lights, roof light, fog lights, etc.
