R56 The Official Ice Blue Owners Club

My Oxygen Blue car is too "dark" for Gulf, but I've painted a couple mirror caps orange and started on a set of wheels because I like the look.
However, my local dealer had an Ice Blue car with Orange stripes and such for a while, anyway. It was a "dealer car". Can't find any pics of it at the moment, however.

Another Ice Blue MCS creeps closer to plying the streets: got word yesterday that my MINI had finished paint, assembly, and QA, *and* had made the train ride to the port!
KLine sails 3/2, WW on 3/5 and 3/7. Now that'd be sweet to make one of those sailings, and would put my MINI in STL...gee, about right at the 7-week mark, just like they said.
Meanwhile...taking some comfort in viewing this Dublin OH dealer's online car-for-sale photo set:
http://www.magmini.com/VehicleDetail...-OH/1522380143
whose link will die sometime soon when it's sold. But for now, it's as close as I've seen to mine:
+Polar Beige interior & color line
+Rib Spoke wheels
+Chromeline interior *and* exterior
+Ice Blue w/White roof
+White Cooper stripes
close enough to ogle, for now even though:
- it's an automatic
- it has a sunroof
- it doesn't have the so-cool but definitely-an-indulgence PB leather dash
- other minor differences, like anthracite headliner, comfort access, etc.

I have a black roof and love it, but if I custom ordered I would have gone with a Ice Blue roof too. Not only can you change it to black, white or black&white checker, you can go with an orange center stripe over Ice Blue from head to toe for that Porsche racing look.

And recently, some Aston Martins in that livery as well.
Not a bad plan, Ice Blue all over, then wrap the roof as desired.
I went with the white, mostly b/c of the Polar Beige interior, and thinking a white roof would be cooler for any canine traveling companion (not that we wouldn't have a/c anyhow, and they don't stay in the car when stopped, at least not more than a few minutes in summers). Of course now it's 50% black with the checks anyhow.

Thx
On another note, I just received my factory Porsche Carrera stick-on stone guards to adapt to the IB Cooper. The wheel arch curve is axactly the same, but the bottom straight edge is at a slightly larger angle that can be easily trimmed to fit. They are also a little narrower and taller, but appear to be usable as is (after the bottom edge trim mod). The material is a good match to the wheel arch and rocker panel plastic. They're a bumpy black 3M vinyl with peel and stick on the back. No magnetic BS!
Will make a thread and post a final pic here too.

I found, to my surprise, an Ice Blue Justa Clubbie parked in the lot at work today. It was parked in the same spot a BRG 1st-gen MINI usually parks in. As I walked around it, I saw the "STEVENS CREEK MINI COURTESY VEHICLE" on the rear doors. Evidently the BRG car is being worked on.
The Ice Blue with the black roof and black rear accents works OK, but just seems a little off on the Clubbie to me.

The chameleon-like Ice Blue...
Another thread discussed MINI colors, the point was made that some of them, including Ice Blue, look so different in various light.
We had a cool, rainy day in St. Louis yesterday, it was still overcast when I parked Nigel at a local winery. His color was *very* strong in that light, grabbed this Droid-phone photo; very different than when I photographed in the dealer's delivery area (in this thread, see post #136).
Pretty amazin.

What's up Ice Blue crew? I've been checking out your thread for the last few weeks and didn't feel right posting until I had made it official. So, I am SUPER happy to announce that I purchased my 2012 Ice Blue Mini Cooper S Hardtop this past Friday!! Now begins the test of my patience as I wait for it to be delivered (How does anyone survive that long 6-8 week wait? Ack.) Anyway thank you for the pics that you've all posted, they were helpful as there don't seem to be that many good pics out there on the web of the Ice Blue minis. Just wanted to introduce myself!

It's easy to get obsessive about the delivery. I waited as long as I could stand before getting a VIN from the Owner's Lounge (https://ol.miniusa.com/), and then started going through the process on the "How to Track your MINI" thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-updated.html
I hit up the sailwx and vesseltracker sites daily, and watched MY MINI come through the Panama Canal on its way out here to the Left Coast. I even took screenshots and made an animated GIF to geek out on. (Check my gallery for the GIF.)
Enjoy your MINI!
