So, where I live, MINI offers three different versions: Pepper, Chili and Hot Chili). I got an MCS Hot Chili, and ordered at the time, MINI connected.
When my car showed up it only had Visual Boost Radio, even then I was fine with cashing out an extra $1200, however, yesterday, when I went in to see if they had the updated video cable, I found out Visual Boost now comes standard on my version... What do you guys think?

 

I am a little unclear on the issue, are you saying is that you ordered your MINI with MINI Connected, and it came with Visual Boost so you got $1200 back? So you still paid more than what the cost would have been with just the base Boost radio, then found out that you cannot get just the Boost radio where you are?

If that is the case, and if the other cars on the lot that have Visual Boost do not have a charge listed on the sticker, then it does seem like you should have some $ coming back.

If that is the case and you paid extra for something that comes standard in your area, the dealer could be jerks and say that you signed the contract, so tough luck. Hopefully that is not the case...

I thought Visual Boost was Mini Connected... and it comes standard on something now?? Confused.

I am still a little pouty over not having Mini Connected, which I really wanted. But there were none available, and I didn't want to order one and wait two months.

 

I believe CFRM is in Mexico, and it looks like they are not getting MINIs with just the standard Boost radio.

The Visual Boost has the LCD screen, but not the Mini Connected functionality. Not sure of the rest of the differences since I have not seen one in person, just regurgitating what I have read here and on various websites.

 

Maurtis is right on both Visual boost radio is just the LCD screen. The only other difference I know of is that instead of getting a "MINI connected" option on screen I get "MINI assist" which just displays service status and other stuff. The good news is I read on the brochure that Visual Boost is "MINI connected ready"! So we'll see how that goes.

I also live in México, and BMW sadly has pretty shady practices.

For instance:

i am waiting on my 2011 MCS "hot chilli" because the one they tried to deliver me did not have the visual boost, even though they told me it came standard.

They also tell you that the mini connected option is 1,000 usd more, COME ON!! it's only a software update!!

BMW MINI Mexico will always try to scam you, it is sad really as they are extremely good machines.

BTW (a little off topic) does someone actually know how update the "visual boost" so it has mini connected, has anyone done it through the dealership? pricing?

 

It will probably be more than just a software update as there is more communication between the car and your iPhone to use the pandora and other app type functions of the car through the phone.

 

I do t think so, my Car has everything mini Connected needs hardware wise. Anyway how can a dealership charge 1200 for mini connected if i already have the visual Boost system...

In the mini connected aire it states you Will be able to update the software from my visual Boost model pum... So its DEF not a hardware update.

 

Motoringfile reported a while back that the Mini Connected option would only be $200, of course in Mexico they'll overcharge you.... Anyway, I won't look into it until they launch the new iPhone.
