I need 16" rims and winter tires for my MINI
Does anyone no of a good place to get a set of rims and winter tires for my MINI clubman S. The potholes are wrecking my rims and who knows what else. I want to get my MINI on 16" wheels and winter tires. I will do non-runflat if that makes enough of a difference.
If anyone has a set they want to sell, I live in MN. Or if you know a place I can get used rims, or cheap new ones. I am hoping to get Nokian tires for winter, cause there the best in my opinion. I will buy these new if i have to. I will consider any good winter tire if its already on the wheels.
Thanks everyone.

I have a set of S-Lites from my 2008 MCS that I took off, the tires are shot but I can remove them and ship just the wheels to you for $500. They also include the TPMS sensors with them. Here is a link to my ad. There are some other 16" wheels on the marketplace as well but I might as well point you to mine first.

TudTud, glad you mentioned that yours is a 2010, I think they changed the sensors in mid 09 or for the 2010 model year. So I dont think they will work on your car either way. I think shipping was more like $125 and I have to pay $30 to get the old tires removed and pay the disposal fee. The rims were on the car when I bought it with 64K so I am assuming that is the mileage. If you just want the wheels still with no TPMS I could probably knock it down to $300 shipped. The wheels aren't perfect, 2 of them have 2" long curb rash, other than that they are great.

rims
where do you live?
would it be possible for the place that takes the tires off, to inspect the rims to make sure they are not bent. I would hate to get them and find a bent rim when i go to put tires on.
i will have to think about it, cause my other option is buying aftermarket for $360 New. I need to find out what rims are better, aftermarket or factory.
Thanks again.

tire rack and run flats
I would prefer non-runflats cause i would think they would handle the potholes better. I am sure the Nokian runflats are good too, but i want what is best for potholes, if i cant avoid them.
as far as tirerack and Alex. does he give better priceing? Plus, it looks like tirerack doesnt sell Nokian. Which is too bad, cause there the best winter tire.

Not trying to ruin anybody's pending sales mind you.
I have the justacooper with the sport, so it came with 16 inch wheels.
I got a set of 15 inch wheels off a first gen with new tires at
a fantastic price. My plan is when they run down to put snow tires
on them.
I can say that the 15 inch ones really handle the bumps, potholes
and snow better.
The ride is smoother too, but, they don't handle as well.

15 inch "steelies" from a 2005-era Honda Civic fit the JustaCooper perfectly. Bolt pattern is 4-100. Wrecking yards are full of those wheels, 25 bucks each or thereabouts. I bought 4 of those and put 195-65-15 Goodyear winter tires on my '08 MINI. A different world of winter performance from the stock 16 inch Conti runflats - no comparison.
Walmart sells new 15 inch 4-100 steel rims if you'd rather spend a bit more, not sure of the price but I'm sure they'd be just fine. I bought 4 of those for a Lexus I had - no problems.
strobeyprobey is right - according to my tire/wheel research the 15's will NOT fit on a 2nd-gen MINI "S" due to brake rotor clearance issues.
Happy winter motoring!

I am not much help in supplying wheels... but try Craigslist in your area, as well as any nearby clubs. We picked up a set of wheels for $100 from a member of a club in our state, and have been checking Craigslist for cheap tires to go on them. I have seen some MINI wheels in my Craigslist searches that aren't priced too badly. Shipping would be expensive, so try local first.

In case anyone does not believe EJB33, I just bought a used '05 Civic 15 X 6 steel wheel (14 round holes, BTW) and test fit it on the right front of my 2010 Justa. It clears the caliper by almost 1/8th of an inch, but, if it fits, it fits, right? Clip-on wheel weights do not seem to be a problem and the Mini 14mm wheel bolts fit easily through the holes. I'm just not clear if the Civic wheel nuts/bolts have a different pitch taper than the Mini wheel bolts. (Didn't have the presence of mind to pick one up at the junkyard when I got the wheel. Have to do that.)
I just need to find a local source for the rest of the Civic wheels at a more reasonable price.

I use my MINI wheel bolts on the Civic wheels... this is my 3rd winter using them, no problems at all.
