JCW Challenge Turbo Charger on the Stock Cooper S

Hi everyone

Just before couple of days I've been surfing around the web for an OEM upgrade stuff for my MCS "R56" , and I have found the JCW Challenge Turbo Charger.......They've said that this TC is a direct fit to the MCS engine

So I was wonder is that true?? and for those of have done it....is there any noticeable difference in the performance??

By the way here is the part number:
11657583149
and a link to the realoem.com:

Yes it's a direct swap (bolt on) to your Cooper S engine, and yes there is a noticeable difference in conjunction with a tune (re-map)

Okay that's sound great , But about the tune thing "re-map" could the dealer do it?? in other words how we could do it in the OEM style??

Well I thought about it but I prefer the OEM upgrade over the aftermarket

What exactly are you looking to achieve? The dealership will probably not even touch the programming of the car, but instead want you to buy the JCW tuning kit (exhaust intake and tune (no turbo)). That is the OEM way to go and keep a waranty. If you want power, just buy an AccessPort and turn the car with Alta's maps that goes with the AP. Just throwing a JCW turbo on the car will not offer as much perfomace as you sound like you are seeking and at a large cost too.

On a personal note, just wondering, what's with the center justification?

I'm looking for a reasonable power and keeping the warranty on , I was thinking of getting the JCW tuning kit but I'm not a big fan of a loud sound especially if the interior sound was loud so that's why I wanted to fit the JCW Challenge Turbo Charger

I mean is the re-map available with the dealer or not?? about the doing it's not a big deal I could arrange it with them but IF it was available

If I understand what you want to do correctly then no its not possible.

Can you put a JCW turbo on your car? Yes.

Will it make much more power without being tuned properly? No.

Will the dealer tune your car for a JCW turbo? No.

Can you buy a turbo and tuning from Alta and not risk your warranty? Most people would say yes. Are there any guaranties? No.

Engine differences consist of...

Turbo
Lower compression pistons

Those are the only differences between the two power units, all other differences are peripheral as in exhaust etc.

I could be wrong, but the head also has a different part # then our MCS does, as do the rods as well so I think they are probably different. Actually, with our higher compression and the JCW turbo/Alta Billet Turbo Upgrade and an Alta/RMW tune, our cars should theoretically make as much or probably more power then a JCW
