Looking to purchase a 2007 MCS had some ?'s

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a 2007 Mini Cooper S. It looks pretty sweet with the Silver exterior and the red leather interior, sunroof, harmon kardon, etc. Very wel lmaintained it looks like.

The 2 questions I had is:

1: How do i tell if the car has the JCW Package, it is advertised as having an aero kit with JCW sills and JCW R105 Black Wheels. Is that factory or aftermarket?

2: It has about 85,000 miles on it and they want $14,500. Is this a good price? Is the mileage too high?

You weren't worried that it was salvaged? what kind of damages were there?

The milage seems a little high. I'm looking to buy a MCS also and looking for something with less than 50K miles and costing $16k or less but not having much luck. I'm worried about getting a MCS with high milage because I'm not sure how long these cars are supposed to last for.

That like 20,000 miles a year I don't know if I would pay that for those kind of miles. That's just me though. I found a 2007 when I was looking with 25,000 miles I believe for 15,000. So I think you can always find something better. Unless the milage doesn't bother you.

The mileage doesn't bother me that much as I will be putting 20,000 a year on it and driving it till the wheels fall off. I wish I lived where some of you lived, the average cost of a 2005 Bonestock MCS in the midwest with 65-70k is 16,500.

I just bought my 2007 S with a little under 60,000 on it very recently day from my local dealer. I paid 14,500 out the door but mine is about as bone stock as a cooper S can be Id say with the extra features and about a years worth of more mileage it does sound too bad! less is always better but i saw mine and fell in love i would have paid a little mroe for mine the car is worth every penny! just get a thorough inspection!

To answer your question, the JCW bits are things that a dealer installs. The aero kit probably cost about $2,000 installed, the wheels were probably over a grand. One thing you need to do is to get the full list price for the car/addons. That's probably what the buyer paid, then you would take some off for mileage (average is 14k miles/yr) and see what percentage of original price they're asking for a 4+ year old car. I bet the brakes are original, so check the car's computer for how much is left until replacement, and figure that cost in too. When you get to 100k miles cars start needing some work done.

My friend is interested in nearly the same car... silver, red leather interior, 2007 S. Loads of options, but has 57k miles. It's a bit more money, but I like the car and (personally) it seems to be a good deal. Any advice or other tips? I think I am going to talk him in to paying the money to take it to a MINI dealer and have them inspect it... but besides that? I think this one has been in a fender bender, but aside from that its a one owner and leased... I am confused how a one owner leased car can have 57k though?

i just bought an 07 MCS with 75k on it and it too is in great shape it has good tires, premium and sport packages, leather, sunroof, I picked it up from a private seller for 12700 last week down here in florida, had to drive 6 hours to get it but well worth it! If you dont wanna do a car fax then just ask them what service they have had done to it and then call the mini dealer with the last 8 of the vin and see how well it matches up. It will give you a good idea if they are trying to cover anything up or if its up to date on maintance. I dont mind a car with high miles if its been taken care of well. I would say try and talk them down a little if you want a steal 13500ish, otherwise I would say its just an ok deal. even if its in great shape. still well below KBB!

edit: forgot about the JCW kit, i cant remember if they were all dealer installed or some factory but if you call MINI they should be able to tell you all about that specific Mini. If you like the rims and kit then an extra 1000 for the rims alone would be worth it. Just my $.4!
