Reinitialize after dead battery?

Battery was dead this AM. Put it on the charger, brought it up to full.
Most of the car's "settings" were retained (all radio presets, e.g.), but the windows had to be retrained.
Now, the only thing still screwy is the gas gauge. It says I'm running on fumes (low fuel indicator), but the tank is actually full.
How can I reset this? I could run over the dealer on Monday, but I'd rather not.

Did you recharge the battery with it in the car? Try disconnecting the - wire on the batt, wait 10 sec's reconnect. Clock will be off but maybe it'll reset the gas guage. Good luck.

Disconnecting the battery in these cars does absolutely nothing it would have to be disconnected for at least 15 to 30 minutes to do ANY reset of computers etc.

Just to follow up...I did not try disconnecting the battery's negative cable.
And, yes, I DID recharge the battery while it was still in the car.

Today, the gas gauge is giving me back chicklets at slow intervals. This AM I had two chicklets showing (in RED). I drove for a while, they changed color to orange, and a third one lit up. More I drove, the more chicklets woke up. Now, I have six of them on, but the tank is perhaps two gallons short of full-full, so it's getting better, but it's not fixed yet.
However, I'm thinking this 'problem' is now working itself out.
Did someone say these cars are "quirky?" Uh, yeah.
