Grats on the MINI!
A friend of the family has had a new Scion Xb for a couple months and she seems to like it. But she is not a motoring enthusiast. I drove it a bit, and the driving experience is pretty bland but it *is* a hollow brick. I could see it as being useful as a daily driver / grocery getter / Home Depot mule... But then again, a Clubman could do that just as well

As to the Scion Xb
1. Transmission Syncros 2,3 and 4th started at 8K miles and Toyota was constant in saying (operation was normal no problem found) I have owned (four standard trans cars counting the mini and never had as many shifting problems as i did in the Xb)
2. Mpg Rated at 22 City 28 Highway my drive is 140 miles round trip with 120 of that being highway and mine was getting 24-25
3. Electrical problems with the ABS evidently when Toyota designed the rear speed sensor hubs and wiring harness water was not one of there concerns as I had to repair both hubs twice
4. random stalling and would have a heck of a time getting the car to restart
5. Windshield (I know this is a potential problem in the mini) I went through 4 on the Xb
6. unengaging to drive even with swaybars
