Disappointed in GA

Disappointed in GA!!

I just purchased a new base MINI automatic Velvet Silver Black Hardtop and I am absolutely furious!? I purcharsed the automobile only 7 days ago and on day number 6 while taking my friend to lunch and showing off my new little baby.....My little baby completely shut down when I came to a stop at traffic lights, stop signs, and after making turns. I called the dealership and they told me to bring it in the next day. Of course I live over two hours away and could not get time off from work to take the car in. I was to call the service department to reschedule after the July 4th holiday. Wellllllllllllllllll, I tried driving the car to work the next day and it got worse. I drove with the AC and radio full blast on and off and still the same results. I immediately called the dealership service department and spoke with my service rep that was assigned to me upon purchace. I told him I did not feel safe driving the car and certainly would not take the chance of driving to Atlanta in that awful traffic and risk having the car shut down on 75S or 285! He agreed and the car has been towed to the dealership. Not sure yet what I want to do especially since I bought this vehicle new with only 10 miles on it. I feel like I have a lemon for sure and am praying for the right decision to make. Very Disappointed in GA.

Having issues with a new car can and does happen. Give them a chance to see what is going on. Hopefully they will get it sorted and it will be your last issue!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced with your new MINI.
That's a bummer, but hang in there, I'm sure they'll fix the problem.
I've not heard of MINI's have lemons.

I've had my 2009 Cooper S, over two years now, it's a manual,
"20,000 miles trouble free"!
The only issue I've had was that the chrome bonnet scoop started blister.
MINI replaced the scoop and install a heat shield that to prevent this from happening again.

When I bring my MINI in for it's annual servicing, which has been twice now,
overall I found the dealerships' to have great-pride and pay attention to every detail.

Good Luck, I know you'll be back on the road soon.

I can't imagine the frustration disappointment you're going through, but don't panic. It's at the dealer where it should be now, and being that it's a brand new car, they have to "make good" on the situation. If I were you, having that issue with one of that dealers brand new cars, I'd have demanded they tow me a loaner. Keep us posted

Just give them a chance to get things sorted out. Also, I'd ask the dealership if they will provide a rental car for you. In my experience the dealerships (three of them in my case), try to make things right.

Just a stupid thought, but have you checked the really simple stuff?

Check that the battery cables are secured?

Any cables or plugs under the hood that obviously look like they aren't right?

Horrible thing to have happen, but I wouldn't call "Lemon" based on one issue that's not even resolved yet.

Best of luck.

Still Disappointed in GA!

After over 24 hours and not hearing anything from the the dealership regarding the problem with the automobile, I took off from work to meet with someone in management. Everyone was very apologetic and I was told by the the Service Department manager that my assigned service tech left them abruptly but stated this was no excuse for no one contacting me. He also explained that the car did indeed do exactly what I explained to them but they had not yet figured out the problem. He promised that as soon as they determined the problem and they have at least 3 attempts (Ga. Lemon Law) before they can provide me with another vehicle he would personally be in contact with me. This was on last Friday and I'm still awaiting!! It is well with my soul.

well worth your soul is correct, the car (minus the problem) is too much fun. Have they provided you with a loaner? or was another form of transportation already available to you?

Still haven't heard anything from anyone from the Service Department. Yes, they offered a loaner but I had driven my other automobile up and did not want to be bothered with a loaner.

Hmm, my MINI has been back to the shop 4 times in 3.5 years and 2 of those were for routine maintenance.

I've been at least 10 times in the last year..some cars just seem to be more problematic than others!

Hopefully this is a one time fix!! Good luck!

I have a 2005 Cooper and bought it brand new.
I have not had anytime at the dealer except for routine maintenance!

*knocking on wood* LOL

I'm sorry for your issues but please give them a chance to figure it out! You will fall in love with the car!

By any chance did your check engine light come on? If it did, it could be the cam shaft sensor. My car stalled at a light, and then the check engine light (yellow) came on the car. The dealer sent a flat bed, and they pulled all the codes in the car. It ended up being the cam shaft sensor.
