A/C recirc feature

Is there a way to turn off cabin air recirculation while the air conditioner is on? All other cars I have owned allow for this but my base mini copper seems to automatically go to recirc when air is on, no matter if recirc light is on or not.

When the recirculation button is pressed (on) you should hear the fan speed increase a bit. It takes about 3 seconds to change over after pushing the button on or off. The system should remember and come on at the last setting you were at when you last shut off the engine.

Please tell us what year and model etc you have or make a signature......

It is a 2011 coupe, and that button doesn't change anything. I know it should but it don't. It works when I only have vent on (no A/C).

Not to be a pain but a coupe is a new 2012 model that is a 2 seater. You might be referring to a hardtop as your car? Just for clarification in the future

Do you have auto air or the ****/wheel to select fan speed (1-4)?

Mine (2010) has a little icon that lights up on the Auto AC panel when recirc is selected.

Update:
Took the car to the dealer yesterday, service rep agrees that the recirc feature doesn't "go off " while the a/c is on. Recirc will turn on and off while just the fan is running (no a/c), but will not allow fresh air to be brought in while a/c is on. Service tech says it is working, I think he is only looking at the light on the dash, which will go off but the recirc never opens the fresh air door. As a note we tried a 2012 and it acts as I would expect it to, tried another 2011 model and it does the same thing as mine. When recirc is not on the cabin of the vehicle should slightly pressurize and can be observed by opening 1 window slightly and feeling a slight vacuum out of the vehicle. Works in fan/vent only mode, just not while A/C is on.
