Had a lovely 40 minute drive home from the dealership, and only rode the clutch one time. Once I got used to gliding to a stop / putting the car into neutral instead of riding the clutch, it was really natural. And I think I found first gear's 'sweet spot' for taking off without applying gas - I only stalled out once! :P

Anyhow, love the car, and thanks so much for the help, guys and gals!

Someone with 30+ years of using a clutch does not necessarily know everything about a clutch, you can always learn something new. You find as you get older that you know less than you thought you did when you were younger (about anything and everything).

I have only been on this forum for a couple of months but anytime I have seen Neitherfanboy post anything it has always been very positive. 30+ years on a clutch means a lot of wisdom comes with those years. Thank you for your comments Neitherfanboy.

I didn't experience any grinding per say. But on my aunts 2010, 2nd gear seemed to no matter what you did to it, always have a little hiccup when shifting up into it from 1st. Every other gear was butter smooth, but 2nd gear for some reason just always caught weird. I tried everything...more RPM's, less RPMs, trying to elongate the shift, shorten the shift....always caught funny.

...I ride motorcycles and drive all sorts of manual cars...so I don't THINK it was anything I was doing. Because I don't have that problem in any of the other vehicles I operate that are manual transmissions...

the 2nd gear synchros are bad. you will need a rebuild to fix that issue.
