remount passenger seat 2 inches forward?

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about relocating the passenger seat bracket 1.5" to 2" forward from their original position? The reason is to make room for a baby seat. My wife hardly never rides in the car and this would be only for the time period that I have to have the seat rear-facing. Any yah's or nay's out there?

The seat is adjustable....I dont quite understand the need to relocate the seat rails ? Are you saying that even with the frt pass seat all the way forward a rear facing child seat will not fit in the back ?

Likely an infant seat won't as they lay more down than upright. You never realize how much room you need for one of those till you try to put one in. My wife's CRV had the front passenger seat pretty well forward. Didn't bother us as she usually rode in the back seat with the baby anyway. Life get's better when you can go to a forward mount seat for sure.

I would say nay. There are airbags, sensors, and wiring in the seat to deal with which could make things very difficult or impossible. Also that would place the passenger closer to the dash airbag which may be dangerous.

Might try to find a car seat that fits. I think there are multiple threads on car seats here on NAM.

Also the seat mounting point are very specific and the drilling of holes in the floor 2" forward of those point will be very weak. Possibly to the point of no even holding the seat weight during an accident. I.E. A loose flying seat in an accidnet is not a good thing.

For a rear facing infant seat, I've seen several people mention that it is easiest to load/unload the child through the rear hatch (maybe fold down half of the rear seat?).
