First Time MINI Modder

Hey All! just picked up my first MINI and love the damn thing; 2008 MINI non-s. Pretty well loaded with the sport suspension, power roof, leather, heated seats etc. Shes Pepper White with a white roof..... and the story goes ...
I have customized tons of cars before from Chrysler 300 to Ferrari but this is a first for me with such a tiny car. lol I will be starting with new rims/tires. I am used to dealing with larger rims so the debate from stock 15s to aftermarket 17 or 18" rims has stubbed me a little.

Has anyone ever tucked 235 40 18 tires on 18x7.5 et42 rims on their R56 MINI?? Looking at this set-up for my winter rim/tire set-up.

Oh yeah, stock suspension for now. Will be lowering it come Spring time though .

Thanks!

Just my opinion, but throwing heavy-*** 18s on a Cooper seems crazy. Keeping small (15 or 16") light wheels will help acceleration. You might find more detailed info on your question in the Tires, Wheels and Brakes section though. Good luck!

Thanks for your response and opinion dannyhavok. Ive researched through the forum especially the wheels and tires section several times but haven't found anyone with this set-up. Honestly, I'm not concerned with acceleration at this point in time, hence it being a non-s. More of a style thing for me at this point.

I guess if you're coming from a Ferrari, no MINI is going to feel quick anyway!

Here's a few threads regarding 18" Wheels:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-18s-pics.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...is-on-18s.html

All of them are lowered, but maybe some of the posters there can give some insight.

Cheers!
Dan

since your really not going to be able to nhance power output, stick to suspension goodies, what is your overall goal?

To do some nice style customizations and enjoy it for what it is. Right now I'm having a ***** of a time finding any lugs to clear the rim or a stud conversion.

I dont think those will do it. I ground down the edge of the stock lug so the outer circle is pretty much flush with the hex head and it fits in there. Problem is now I cant get even a thin walled socket over the head as its to tight between the lug and the rim.

Well if you already have a rim do a stud conversion, http://www.waymotorworks.com/m14-to-...rsion-kit.html

Yeah those will work. Just trying to find if someone local has them since I've already purchased my rims.
