Problems with 2012 Models?
I have a 2012 entering into production in week 5 and have been scouring the site for information relating to problems with the 2012 models. So far I haven't found much and I suspect that is because they are so new....buuuttt....
What problems have you noticed so far?

Thank you! Thermostat issue aside, I absolutely love this car. I was just telling someone this weekend that I can't imagine what I would buy at any price that would be more "me".
The service advisor seemed to think the particular sensor I had replaced was a known and common problem, that they had already replaced a handful of 2012s with the same issue. Normally, it would have been a 15 minute fix, but they didn't have the part in, so my car ended up being there for two days.

You must have misunderstood me, much is lost when conversation is written as opposed to face to face. I guess that is where emoticons or smilies are handy!
Yeah, I guess I am looking for problems. I have seen much about initial problems with the generation 2 Coopers, but I haven't seen much when it comes to the new year.
Like I had read previously, more people tend to post when they are having difficulties with their vehicles~not when things are going swimmingly. I would like to know (actually, the husband wants to know) what I may expect in the way of "out of the ordinary" repairs and how to recognize them. I honestly didn't think that I would get "knocked" for asking.....

Totally understandable to be worried about issues, repair costs should always be a factor in whether or not you keep a car after warranty ends, no matter how much you love it!
I got my '12 JCW hardtop Thursday night, having read that there have been really minimal issues with the second generation S/JCW models after the first couple years they were out. I decided to opt for extended free maintenance and warranty nevertheless. I'm at 265 miles so far... And although it isn't THAT relevant, my old 2004 JCW S ran like a champ, my only complains were pretty expensive maintenance over the years, but even that, I probably only spent about $5-6k on the car in the seven years I owned it!
Good luck, and congratulations! You'll love your new car.

As near as I could tell from the posts here and Consumer reports the Justa 2011 was pretty good. I expect 2012 to be ok too. Not perfect. There are bound to be some issues. I figured with 4 yr/50K warrenty I would be good for any defects or issues. Hope this helped somewhat.

3000 miles on my 2012 CM All4. No problems what-so-ever!
There must be some changes in the 2012 model as it was exempt from the recent recall on the aux water pump circuit board and I have not heard of any 2012 CM owners complaining of the peeling chrome trim problem that plagued the 2011 models after March production.

I have about 1700 on my 2012 MCS and the only problem I've had is that the fuse for the power outlets, i.e. cigarette lighters (front and the one in the boot) blew and I don't know why. I did use a splitter on the one in the front, but I only had my phone charger plugged into one and my Garmin GPS charger in the other one (nothing plugged into the one in the boot) so it wasn't like it was overloaded or anything. I just changed the fuse because it wasn't worth a trip to the dealer to have them do it. It does seem to run a little rough for about a minute in the mornings and since I'm in So Cal, we don't get very cold weather. The car is garaged so maybe we're talking about high 40's/low 50's in the morning. It has made me wonder what it might be like in very cold weather, though. Other than these small things, I love the my MINI.
