R56 Official R56 TROUBLE FREE MILES thread

I've never owned a car that made oil vanish like my 2007 S did. SCARY. It would also be interesting to hear updates at say 70k, 90k, etc, from all these Trouble Free Miles posters that have less than 30k now. Its the long term that seems to be the issue.

The only oil I've lost from all of my cars in the past 25 years of driving was lost do to a leak.

I didn't expect many issues with the newer N18, the N14's can have their moments though. Some of us get lucky while others don't, my N14 is still in great shape after 53k miles, 155 psi across all four cylinders.

That's great. Like I said, please follow up with us when you hit 6 years or 80,000+ miles.
"used like sports cars" become "used sports cars". French engines are not reliable.
There's an oil catch tray under that baby. You won't realize the leaks until you sit it at 45 degrees in your garage for a weekend. Trust me.

The name of this thread is "official R56 trouble-free miles", not "my car sucks so yours will too".
But, sorry to hear your having issues regardless of you and mileage.
Respectfully,

Well, remember the engine is German/French so anything is possible. The oil leak from the control solenoid does not drip to the ground. Instead it seeps through a wire harness eventually reaching and damaging the DME! Crazy.

So a used "like sports cars" become "used sports cars" it's possible because it's a German/French engine? Stop using drugs and ask yourself what you were thinking when attempting to answer my question!

I asked a question to a meaningless brain dead post that doesn't even belong in the "Official R56 TROUBLE FREE MILES thread" and you post a random off the ball statement which has nothing to do with this thread title and doesn't even come close to answering my question?

After scouring the internet, joining many MINI forums and reading this entire thread, it seems pretty obvious to me that no matter the year/engine type be it R52 R56 or whatever, these very finicky cars need absolutely ridiculous maintenance or they will fail. Judging a vehicles reliability at 10k, 30k even 80k is just insane to me. I've had Hondas with over 300k and sporadic oil changes run flawlessly for over 100k more. My current 98 f150 4.9 4wd has over 403000 on the original motor and auto trans... Still passes smog like it was new. Are there any MINI owners on this forum with over 200k reliable miles? Over 100k?! Please speak up if you exist! I just bought two MINIS and the 07 MCCS has been in the dealers shop since 30 miles after possession of it due to timing chain tensioner failure... I greatly worry about the reliability of my wife's 2011 MCS with only 31k on the clock. We bought this for her to commute to work and save gas. Traded a VERY reliable dodge charger Hemi in for it, that car had over 100k on it, no tune up and a rare oil change and it ran STRONG. Anybody?

I know it's hilarious when you see these folks talk about their MINIs 9k miles or 30k miles lol.
But I have close to 70k miles on my N18, out of warranty issues were the fuel pump(not covered, cause my part was different compared to other N18s), valve cover, and the crappy rear sway bar endlinks(replaced twice, aftermarket Detroit Tuned links on now).
Just be prepared if you have issues. I love my MINI but it's a pain at times with problems that arise during the most inconvenient times haha. Good luck, MINIs are a lot different compared to Dodge and Honda.

I love my wife's 2011 BRG MCS too!! Never driven a car as fun and I've owned some FAST cars... Lol I WANT to love my 07 MCSc too! But from the get go she's been giving me grief hahaha Hopefully in a couple hours I'll be at the dealer picking her up and she'll be in top form... If not I fear a breakup....

Currently at 152,000 miles. Had a few typical repairs - timing chain cartridge, water pump, turbo feed and return line, some gaskets, thermostat. Nothing major, nothing that ever left me stranded. All of the repairs I had to pay for came after I passed through the 100k mark.
My 2001 Ford F-150 with 230k miles seems to be in constant need of repairs. Even had to resort to buying a code reader so I could clear the CELs.
Just got rid of a 2007 Volvo XC90 with 110k miles that was a money pit. Couldn't trust it for any weekend trips to soccer games.
Still rank my MINI as the second most reliable vehicle I've had behind a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Jcauseyfd, what year is your MINI? I just got my 2007 MCCS back from the dealer tonight, all seems well after a complete timing chain assembly replacement and oil pan gasket replacement. They changed the front crankshaft seal as well due to an oil leak that developed after the timing chain repair. Got it home and noticed oil on my driveway under the car and oil on the cars undercarriage. Wiped it off and am waiting to see if it comes back before I panic as it may be residual oil from the leak they found and 'repaired'.... Wish me luck!! Lol

104000 miles on my 08 Cooper with a N12 engine. No issues of any kind. The oil cooler was replaced for a coolant leak at 40000 miles and that was it. Dead reliable so far. Planning on putting a couple hundred thousand more miles on it.
