That's what I like to hear! Let's hear more over 100k and reaching 200k testimonials!!!

That's an N12, not like our N14 engines. Non Cooper S models are inherently more reliable than the S models, actually the non S models have an above average reliability rating.

Just crossed over 90,000 miles on Romy. She is a just a Cooper. She is actually running better than new. Gas mileage is up over 40MPG, consistently now. Power is as good as it has ever been, unless she gets heat soaked, but that is true of any motor.

Fantastic little motor.

Mine has the N14, and this one has been a good motor. 101k. I do see the potential for problems, but there are reliable S models out there. Perhaps luck of the draw, or better maintenance, it's hard to say.

You're lucky, it's the little stuff cost me now. Engine is good though, compression is great!

Haven't been here in ages... Just returned from my last FREE maintenance at 31K after 3 years of ownership. Trouble free ownership I might add. Absolutely zero major issues; just 3 years of driving fun.

Here's my maintenance log:

Oil & Filter done at: 2,407 & 10,186 & 16,583 & 24,016 & 31,242 (NEXT 38,742)
Tire Rotation done at: 7,504 & 15,222 & 23,248 &30,452 (NEXT 37,952)
Brake Fluid and Microfilter done at 2 years (NEXT Nov. 2015)
Front Brake Pads (only) replaced at 23,248 by dealer.

I'm going to ckeck the Air Filter this afternoon and replace it if needed (I assume the dealer checked it, but no indication is found on the receipt - they did do their 30pt. inspection...).

I couldn't be happier with this trouble free MINI COOPER HARDTOP so far. Here's to many more trouble free years and miles. Cheers!

32,000 on my 2011 Cooper S. Absolutely no issues. Changed engine oil religiously every 5000 miles. Going to change transmission oil at next service using Castrol Transynd.

The base MC rate above average for reliability everywhere.

First Cooper S was a 2007, November build. I had put 81,000 plus on it when it was destroyed in an accident. An older gentleman ran a red light and literally tore the driver's side of the front end off the car. The engine was sitting at about a 30 degree angle, laying in the road.
Only had one issue with this car. It gave me a false engine temp high about a mile from the house. It was about 10 degrees F outside and we had only driven that mile,so I knew it was bogus. Dealer repaired under warranty.
Oil consumption was pretty normal. I don't remember anything excessive.

2nd Cooper S is a 2009, March build. It currently has 105,000. It's had the known issues addressed, but never left me stranded. Everything was pretty much addressed under warranty, and only the HPFP caused a slight hiccup. It failed when I went too start it one morning. Dealer had it fixed at close of next business day under warranty. It's not my only vehicle, so it was just a little annoying.
Oil was changed at 101,000 and the dipstick still indicates the correct oil level now. I have noticed that in the winter months it seems to need a little more oil added between changes. Nothing Like I've read though. Maybe a 1/2 qt- 1qt every change interval.
I typically change oil about every 5K-7K ,and will alway change it coming out of the winter months. This past winter the interval was longer, and I did have too add some oil to keep the level where I like it.
I do add Seafoam to the gas periodically, especially in the winter. A habit I picked up with my previous Saab 900SE, Turbo.

So far, knock on wood, my experience has been positive with Mini's. I like them. Maybe I've been lucky, but I think driving turbo's, as the daily drivers for close to thirty years, has given me a little insight and appreciation into what they are and aren't.
I just bought a 2013 JCW, so I hope I'm right.
