Need an Ipod cable...

So my new to me '08 MCS is missing the cable. I found this and I would assume that works but wanted to know if it will charge my 4s? I know some of the older cables won't charge the newer phones or ipods.

Also it looks like there is a connector in the armrest too but I can't seem to find out anything about that. Is that the same thing as hooking it up in front of the shifter but a different cable?

Thanks!

First off this should be in teh NAV and Audio section where there are tons of threads on this issue.

Second you state "I found this" and you did not link to it so we do not know what you found.

Also unless someone put in an extra USB port in the arm rest then no it is not the same kind of connector.

As for cables a MINI OEM cable will work to charge your 4S under ideal conditions but there are many taht have a problem with it and others no problem. It is really a crap shoot as to whether it will work or not. But surely it must be teh most recent cable as the original cables that came with the cars will not work

Hmm, for some reason it didn't save the link the first time. Fixed it. Yeah I forgot there was the audio section, I will do some digging there.

In the arm rest it looks like an ipod dock of some sort is in there as it has the male end of the connector all the way in the back of the compartment. Guess I should try it out!

I bought one on eBay for cheap after my clubman's was stolen (!) and it works fine with my iPhone 4. It is identical to the one that came with the car.

However the USB port in my 2008 supplies so little power it doesn't charge very well. Although sometimes it seems to, even when I get the "charging is not supported with this accessory" error.

I keep a lighter-to USB plug in there and just move the USB end of the Y cable over there if I need more charging in a pinch.

This may be what people in the negative reviews are complaining about and is BMW's problem, not the cable's.
