Engine sound effects?

Hi all, I'm very new to mini tech and the car in general so forgive the (hopefully) silly question. Do the 2007 S engines often have a very steady tick tick tick, almost sounds like very loud injectors?? Idle is smooth and engine has about 60000 km's. Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the tick during idle, then yes, they do. It is a product of direct injectors.
Just like a diesel, the N14 engine has injectors that fire directly into the combustion chamber, not into the intake manifold. You get a tapping noise at idle. And a good, even burn of fuel.
One caveat. Can't troubleshoot a noise if you can't hear it. Drive by a dealership, or find another R56 driver to take a listen. The internet has limitations. You just found one.
Happy Motoring.
