Are R56 Headlamps a Universal Fit Between Years?

Are all of the R56 headlamps '07-'12 a direct swap from each other?

I want to build some retrofit projector headlights for my '11 MCS since the cutoff on the OEM ones is terrible.

To do this, I'm planning on buying a spare set of headlights from eBay or the such. I need to know if I have to buy a set specifically made for the '11-'12 models or if one from a '07+ would fit and mount the same way. I know they look the same but are they a direct swap?

Thanks for any help!!

To my knowledge the headlights are interchangeable between all from '07 to '12. Do you have halogens as your factory set up?

There is an aftermarket company that makes Projectors for the R56 for around $800 which is a lot cheaper then buying stock and you can customize them black housing or whatever color and pain th ring inside but, I don't remember the company. They are plug and play too which I don't the stock ones are.

Thanks for the responses guys. Porthos, are you talking about blackflames customs?

I did something crazy and called the parts dept at my MINI dealer. Models '08-'11 are the same part number. '07 is different and '12 is different. So 3 part numbers for headlight housings in the R56.

The different part numbers refer to the clear or yellow turn signals as well as the relatively new (recent year or 2) black housing with clear signals.

Blackflames sounds correct.
