Just made the last payment on my yellow Cooper. Whaahoo! Now what happens? Does MINI send me the title? Do I need to contact them?
CONGRATULATIONS!! Molly was PAID OFF in 3yrs. 3mo. and 3wks., funny bit it just happened that way!! If you've financed with MINI then yes they should send you the Title, it wouldn't hurt to call them either though.
In some States the lien holder does not maintain the title... they hold a Security Interest Filing. Since you don't seem to be in possession of your title, appears your State is not one of them. Unless you have it and just forgot.
Good feeling to be done with payments. It was through Mini financial. I don't have the title so I guess they will send it. I'll probably give them a call to get an estimated time of arrival. Thanks

In WA the Credit Union held the Title, you can bet I made sure and called as soon as the $$ left my Account!!
Mine was just paid off too. MINI Financial had mine to me within 2 weeks of paying it off. I was impressed that they were so on the ball. Now I'm just waiting on my state to remove the lien on the title and issue me a new, clean title.
Did you call them or did they just send you the title. I have had not emails or communication from them. I haven't been able to call yet with the holiday and all.
I didn't call them. About two weeks after mine was paid off, I received a letter with the title in the mail giving me instructions on how to have the lien removed. In Texas, that requires the owner to go to their local tax assessors office and have a new title issued. It was very painless.
Some banks have an agreement with certain states so that once the vehicle is paid for the state issues the title after receiving an electronic message from them. What state are you in? Check your state's Vehicle Registration Office online for information.
Like they said, it depend on your state. In Maryland, you get a title with a secured interst notation, after you pay it off, the DMV issues you a clear title.
I remember when I purchased mine, I promised my wife I would pay it off in 24 months. When I received the title, I remember showing my wife, saying "See, I kept my word, now I want to trade in my LR Discovery for a Range Rover..."
She was less than impressed...
