Need help with random acceleration issues
I own a 2007 Mini Cooper S 6-speed manual transmission and over the last few months have had an acceleration issue that is progressively getting worse. What's even more frustrating is the fact that the issue isn't always consistent.
Symptoms: Sometimes when accelerating it feels that there is no boost (don't have a boost gauge), the RPMs sky rocket without affecting the acceleration as much as you would naturally assume. Feels almost as if I am still partcially in neutral when I go to accelerate. I'm not sure if its a fuel pump, throttle, mechancial or electrical issue. When I have the cruise control on and I'm approaching a hill, as the car increases the throttle to maintain speed it "bogs" out and cuts the cruise control halfway through the process.
I'm looking for any help I can get. Before giving in and taking this to the dealer, I'd like to look at things myself or at least have a good head on my shoulders so the dealer can't push me around.
Appreciate your help!!
