71,000 miles here and not a single significant issue. The most significant repair my Mini has been in for was a failed throttle position sensor, which wasn't even a problem since it is a redundant system. Obviously I don't represent all Mini owners, but now you have "met' one.

Do your research on the specific car you're looking at purchasing... Carfax, maintenance history, talk to the owner, etc... and make an educated decision. You can also look at purchasing a third party warranty along with the car. See if there is a local Mini club near you as well and talk to them. If we all based our car purchases on the brand forums we'd all be walking ... I see you're looking at a Mazda... have you surfed their forums as well? I'm sure they are full of scary problems as well... Good luck with your search!

Very tue and nice to meet one! I googled both for reliability and looked at consumer reports and forums- Mazdas I couldn't find anything awful, or the 350z which is in same price range ~10-15 I'm looking for- it has a wonderful engine.
I will keep comparing and won't totally cross mini out yet, I'll just have to keep in mind budget for a good third party warranty!

If you think about it... most of the forum posts will be from people with problems or people modding them. Think of the volume of Mini's purchased compared to the forum posts with issues... Not that many. All cars have issues... It all depends on how the owner drives it and takes care of it!

Honestly, MINI is a awesome car. Even with all the fix and stuff, I still enjoy driving it everyday.
