Power outage MINI R56 diesel

Hi,

I have a 2008 MINI R56 Diesel that didn't start after start/stop a couple of weeks ago. When I pushed my clutch down to get it to start everything just died. No electricity anywhere. I pushed it to a gas-station and tried looking for a blown fuse in the engine compartment. Didn't find any, but when I closed the hood it came back to life. Ignition on with me outside, key in pocket.

I thought I might have solved some bad contact when I handled the fuses.

Last night when I got home and parked the car, my key wouldn't come out after shut-off. No dome-light, nothing. I figured it was the same problem. I then popped the hood, stepped out and pulled the largest fuse. Re-inserted it. Nothing. Then I figured it might have been when I closed the hood it started, so I tried that again, with just a little extra force, and the car came back to life!

Guessing I have a glitch somewhere?

The connections on the battery are obvious to check. What else?

Mike

Since there is not a single mini diesel in the us (90% this site), you ight want to try a euro centric mini site....most any suggestion will be a guess..most likely worse than the typical guess on an auto site!!

I would guess at a bad connection on the battery.

Both battery connections were loose. Very loose. I fixed that and hopefully it was all that was to this problem. I'll check back here if it happens again.

Thanks,
Mike
