Catch can, SeaFoam or both?
Nub here. Bought used MCS with 28K. I am questioning the necessity of having a catch can on top of doing Seafoam every 5k when I change my oil. I don't drive like granpa or am I a boy racer. This car is going to get sold as soon as I run out of warranty, which is four years from now, just trying to do as few modifications as possible while keeping the car in good health. I drive about 5K a year.
Last question: My oil was just changed by the dealer as part of the umpteen timing chain replacement. I would like to do the Seafoam treatment, do I need to change the oil again? Seems like a big waste. Again, thank you.

Imo a catch can is THE BEST prevention for carbon you can do....
The seafoam will remove pretty fresh carbon...but not the longterm coked on stuff...
Imo if you want to keep it longterm, get a carbon cleaning (physical or chemical...seafoam is pretty good stuff, but compared to a professional cleaning imo, it is just an interm measure), use a catch can, and then seafoam on a regular basis.
the suggestion to change your oil with seam comes from ADDING IT TO THE OIL AS A ENGINE FLUSH, NOT A FOGGING....
Since driving style is such a big factor with carbon, maybe the above will keep it clean....just remember to vlean the condensate out of the catch can regularly.
