brake pad recommendations?

So I am running the ebc redstuff pads on the back of my 07 mcs, but now the fronts need changing. I don't have the money for the redstuffs again, does anyone have any solid cheaper recommendations? I was thinking about the bendix ceramics. Thanks for the tips.

For what it's worth, after reading a bunch of threads on here debating between Hawks and Redstuff, I ended up going with StopTech from TireRack. From what I could find they offer a better initial bite than the others which is appealing to me. I just ordered them so I can't review, but another option to consider. I think it was $65 for the fronts.

I have loved my ceramics from Autozone (lifetime replacements) I'm running on another car.

I love my Redstuff on my MINI. How much are you really saving though by going cheaper?

When I do mine I think I will go OEM.
I put the greenstuff pads on two different cars.
They threw out so much brake dust it was silly.

I'm still driving my CRX with the greenstuff.
It's annoying.

They stop slightly better I can not say phenominally
than just the high end wearever I get from advance auto.

Just my .02.

I just put new NM rotors and Redstuff pads on all four corners. I have Redstuff on all my cars including my SLK55 AMG. The pads just last longer than anything else I've used...about 40% longer. So from a cost point they end up breaking even for the cost of the pads but unless you install them yourself, you get to pay the installation twice. If so, you save money...if not going for a cheaper pad ends up costing more.

From the performance side they are low dust with a decent first bite and great heat dissipation.

Just like many other things, you get to choose your own and then you own your choice!

I would recommend the EBC Redstuff over everything else. But if you need something cheaper the only thing that I would even consider would be the Akebono pads. You do get what you pay for.

I've had hawk HPS on my Mazda3 and both MINIs. Work fine, a little less dust an OEM. I could see wanting a more aggressive bite for track use but for daily driving they work fine for me. I've never heard one squeak from any pad I've ever installed.

I have the Akebono Euros, and have been happy with them. Very little dust. The OEMs were ridiculous dust producers.

My StopTech street performance pads were $55 for the set. Cheap but I will bet you I won't have any brake fade on the track if I went up against you.

Thanks for the help everyone. I really just can't afford the $100 for the redstuff for the front, in addition to the $20 sensor, so I'm going to go with the akebonos. If they give out prematurely 20,000 miles down the road, so be it, I will hopefully be able to afford the redstuff by then.

I just bought the EBC Greenstuff today, not a bad route either. I looked at StopTech and Akebono but I stuck with Greenstuff since I'll be on the track once or twice in the summer.

They should be fine but remember brakes, tires, oil, and fuel grade are the last thing I could compromise on for fear of messing with safety and reliability.

least expensive will be found at your local AutoZone

mine has MINI pads . .

and this does not mean they are poor pads

seems we here feel ordering a name from a web site and paying shipping charges makes us feel superior . . .

Me too - I ordered my EBC reds from Way . . .
