iPod worked, then did not work - any ideas?

Hey,

I have been driving around for two months with my iPod hooked into the mini iPod cabled that plugs in under the dash. It's the Y cable that you purchase from mini.

Synced my iPod last night and this morning it charges through the cable but the car does not recognize it. When you select USB it says "Empty."

Any ideas?

Try doing a reset on the ipod and then re-syncing it. Only a guess, this has never happend with mine. I listen to audio books a lot and most times the book will continue where I left off the last time and occasionally it will start over so I suspect the relationship between ipods and the MINI is less than perfect.

Sounds like what happened on my 2011, the Y cable worked for a few times then never worked again. Dealer replaced the cable still nothing. I complained about it every time the car was in the shop and they couldn't determine the issue....

I looked into the input in the car. I see three pins and am wondering if there should be
4 pins. Maybe one pin was bent? I am going to "explore" now....

Looks like there are four pins and the second one is broken - a trip the dealer will be underway.

Update-the iPod port was broken. Two of the four pins were damaged. Dealer replaced the port.
